Here's a chain hoist I made to use for various projects. I thought I would share it with you for your enjoyment. I picked up five 15'x6"x6"x3/8" thick H beams at a salvage yard cheap. Those suckers were heavy. I hauled them 35 miles home on the 16' flatbed. This project needed some help from a neighbor and friend. On the Left is Neighbor - Herman the Machinist from Argentina on the Right is Friend - Mehdi the Chemist from Iraq. (No he is not a WMD chemist). He escaped Iraq about 20+ years ago and is a real legal US citizen. I had to cut the beams to length with my ...... Sawsall (start laughing here). I got a weed sprayer jug & filled it with some water & cutting lubricant, My wife would spray the blade while I cut through the beams. I made 4 cuts through 6"x6"x3/8" H beams and broke only one sawsall blade. Here we are starting to get things put together. The gussets at the top are 3"x12" I beams from a mobile home tongue. It's 16' tall. I used the FEL with a 3" x 3" x 1/4" square tube boom pole to lift it up. After it was upright I welded it onto the base I beams. Looks like a scene from "Monster Garage". Larry

Here is a pic with one side of the base support gussets welded in place. When cutting the I beams for the gussets, I gave up on the sawsall and purchased a 72 cc 14" diameter, 2 stroke cut off saw. I got it all put together and moved it to a new location - that was interesting. Here it is in real use the day I brought home my new Jinma 354. This is my Dad helping me get the 6" wood Chipper off the top of the Jinma shipping container. Larry

To get the new tractor off the shipping container I used the hoist to lift up the Front end of the tractor while using the old Ford FEL to lift up the rear end. I raised it high enough to pull out the bottom of the metal pallet with the ATV winch. Then raised it up a little higher to get the wheels on. This is a pic of the Jinma completely suspended in mid air. Fortunately I made the Hoist wide enough so that the flatbed fits between the upright support beams - it's 10 feet wide. A while ago I had to replace the gas tank on the old Ford. Doing that required I remove the FEL. It is not a "quick mount" FEL. So I drove the tractor under the chain hoist and pulled the FEL off with the hoist. Here is the FEL suspended by the hoist. Larry

Another angle of the FEL up in the air. I guess it weighs ~ 1200#'s it's pretty big and heavy duty. When the hoist is "resting" I suspend the PHD from it. Man is it easy to hook up like this. You can move it into position on the TPH end of the tractor with one hand. What do you all use for lifting heavy stuff? Larry
