OH man Scott, What a palace. I can't believe it's like done already. Is the interior done too? I mean all the dang hardware, lights, sinks, faucets and all that little (but time consuming) stuff. I remember with finishing our place it seemed like that part took forever.
What kind of lights are you putting in? We went from incandescent to cfl and then to led. The energy savings is unbelievable from one to another. For example just using the exterior spotlights...around the house, garage and barn, we have 13 sets (2 bulbs per set) of them. At first we had halogen 150w lights in each set (300w). They were dusk to dawn motion sensor lights. Their normal use was 75w per light or 150w if the motion detector went off. If we left them on at night as security lights, say for 10 hours(that will vary of course), but in this example that meant we used 1500w x 13 sets = 19500w or 19.5kW for that night!!! That was one reason we ran out of juice so quickly at first.
Then we found some cfl spotlights to replace the halogen lights, but they were still 40w each so 80w per set. We also only used one spotlight on each set instead of both bulbs. That cut the power consumption down to 40 x 10hrs x 13 =5200w or 5.2kW ... a great savings of energy (and cost for you) I presume.
Now we have gone to LED spot lights. We have reduced the amount of spotlights we leave on around the house, barn and garage. There are only 5 spot lights (rated at 40w) we leave on all night. But they use only 5w each !! Using the same 10 hours, that's only 5x25x10=1250w or 1.25kW for the night. It is not quite the same as the incandescent or halogen lights but very adequate to illuminate the drive way(s) and some of the yards around the house. You'd be surprised how well they shine. In the other lights we put 1-1/2w LED's which don't put off very much light at all, but the illuminate enough when you walk around the home at night so you can see. We have those in 12 of the lights. So some dusk to dawn lights have one spotlight and one small light in the set. That's 12x1.5x10=180w for the night. Altogether that's 1250 + 180= 1430 or 1.43kW for the night lights now. Comparing that to the original power consumption it's huge energy savings for our solar energy storage. I'm positive it would mean a big savings on your behalf as well. Just something to consider before you buy your lights. Rob-

Scott your place is amazing, each picture is nicer than the last, my hat is off to you great work. Paul Thank you sir... Still working on the theater and saloon. Fired up the projector and 6 of the amplifiers yesterday. And I ordered the 4 leather couches and 2 recliners to be delivered in two weeks. Getting close to watching my first movie in there.
