At the risk of being banned for suggesting improvements, I have a suggestion. I subscribe to a lot of forums, and all of the ones with large memberships use forum software called vBulletin. It's what TBN uses, for instance. If you do a google search for "vbulletin hosting" you'll see that packages start around $5/month. A lot of the forums I'm on do fundraising drives, or get members to take turns sponsoring a month. That and google adwords apparently covers the cost. It's something to think about. What happens to a lot of sites is that by the time they realize they've outgrown proboards, there is so much content online that migrating everything is almost an impossible job. If you look at the archives of both CTOA and TBN, they've both gone through migrations where they effectively tossed everything before a certain date. Why not start out where you'd like to end up?
If current trends continue, in a few years everything will be manufactured in China. By then, the term "Chinese Tractor" will be redundant, like saying "tree wood" or "water ice." CTW needs to be prepared for this growth!
Another Forum I'm on all the time is RaceDezert.com They use the vbulletin... It is a really good forum... What happened here was "Let's keep it familiar" the CTW site actually went way farther than we thought it would. but we wanted to make it nice. I have been tweaking the forum for about 4 weeks now and have found many ways to crack code and tweak how it works.
Is there any format issues we should change... Maybe I can get a crack?
We really like all the feedback and tips.
