The hydraulic lifter for the 3 pt hitch on my new (to me) 2003 JM-354 is not working properly. It takes 10 or 12 hours for the hydraulic arms to come down. The seem to go up as they should, but down at a glacial pace. The system is full of fresh hydraulic oil and the valve between my legs is fully open. The 2003 JM-354 does not have the external valve for the hydraulic lifter. There is a top plate on the hydraulic oil reservoir, under the seat, unlike the later 354s. wi8thout a parts manual, I have no idea where to look for problems. Anybody else seen this? Ogri

I know on my 2006 354, I removed the in-tank "strainer" as it was coming apart (shoddy construction and materials). I had to completely power flush my hydraulic system (tank, lines, hoses, valves, pumps, etc.out to remove the fine debris that was plugging my components. I installed a high-quality Baldwin strainer/filter (100 Micron I think)on the pump to handle the filtration and I change it out with each fluid change.
Check all of this out first as I now get +/-2300psi (albeit I have a 320 pump conversion and pressure regulator installed). Somewhere on here or at home I have a list of NAPA/Baldwin conversions for filters etc. I'll have to see if I still have it handy. I also use high quality 10W hydraulic fluid (NOT Universal Hydraulic Fluid).
