unfortunately I'll miss Daytona this yr because of having to work that Sunday. I got home about 7 last night and started watching the shootout and fell asleep right after Bill hit the wall.

Hi Scott, Are you a NASCAR fan? Not really I'm not much on watching more into doing and Believe it or not reading. But back before I got married. This was a car a friend of mine helped build in my Nanny's back yard when I was around my mid 20s That was my game. The car was a 79 Z28. Power via 400 small block bored .030. Dish pistons. BRODAX Track one heads. .645 roller cam and a slew of other goodies. Including a 5200 stall and 180 NOS shot. The car could run 10.20 ET on any given day. But dialed in at 10.69 unless I was running some one faster than that. If that was the case (seldom) I would dial their dial. Thats how I found out that the car would run 9.28 on NOS. Got thrown slam off the track for that run. ;D Thats the fastest I ever went in the car. But the day Bo Snoddy picked it up he took it to the track and held the NOS from start to finish. I never did that. Didn't think the engine could handle it. Turned out I was right. He went through the traps at 176mph and with a time of 8.73 if I remember right. Poor engine was turning 9600 RPMs on a stock crank. I still can't believe it made it all the way down the track under NOS. I designed and built that car in my head as I went along. It took me a year to get the local speed shop to order the parts combination I wanted. They said it would never run. Now they build around 75 of the exact motor every year. They have built several faster than the ones I built. I built 3 of them over a 7 year period. Never had one blow. But then again I never reved one over 8400 RPMs. I would have loved to race NASCAR but my pockets aren't that deep. Later KIDD

Cool... 8 seconds in a Camero is fucking fast!!!!
I'm a Chevy man myself. But have built many crazy ass engines. Everything from a 628HP 2.9L VW flat four to Hemis. I'm a bigblock type of guy... I love doing all my own head work. Knarliest Small block I ever built was a 360ci W-2 Mopar... 9700RPM all motor. It ran 10.20 in a fully restored 1969 Dart GTS.
I knew there had to be some motor heads here!
My big passion is Off Road racing... Even won a couple back in the day... ;D

Agree, That Hendrick engine power & durability far surpasses the field and I think he knows it. He must have poured a fortune into his engine development program. Should be a good year. I suspect Toyota will become a factor.
