Dick, Nice job. It sounds like it's working well, well, well!
Is that blue pipe PVC? The color and style are different than what we get here.

Dick, Must be nice being able to install all your plumbing outside without fear of it freezing. The Flotec brand of pumps are common and readily available here in the states at may home improvement centers. Looks like a compact and efficient unit. So you've got all kinds of pressure now. Is the Madam happy with the higher pressure? Did this solve the hot water flow problems? Oh and 19% TAX I suppose there is no IRS and no income tax? do you have a flat tax, everyone pays the same on everything? Larry

Folks, The blue pipe is PVC I think, it's by far the most common tubing used (there are different colours for different applications, electricity, foul water etc.) it 's most common size is 32mm followed by 40mm and on up to 100+mm , you'll have to do your own conversion , it's joined by an adhesive that gives you about 5 seconds to get the joint right! Freezing Larry? whats that? thought it was just a story to frighten children!! we don't have any of that in the central region, down south (all the way to the south pole)( Chile is the longest country in the world a bit over 3000 miles I think) is a different story. but you are right, anything I did of a similar nature back in the UK always had to take account of frost, but here nothing to worry about. I would think Madam (I must stop calling her that, it's used in the sense of say the Queen, or she who must be obeyed, not as in the owner of a Brothel !!) has all the water pressure she can handle right now, she's at Iguassu, the huge horseshoe shaped waterfalls where Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina meet, along with the second daughter, she would think my puny 52 psi small stuff! The hot water issue should be resolved with the additional pressure but I have to do a little tweaking yet. Yes tax on (almost all) purchased goods is 19% (it's just like Europe with V.A.T (( value added tax)) ) business's and farms can reclaim their's against what they owe in their quarterly returns (they equally have to charge tax and send a Cheque to the tax department for the difference between input tax and output tax), ordinary folks not in business can't reclaim any. Yes there is income tax too but you have to earn a lot before it's of significance . The tax system in general is very efficient, but more European than North American (not my words, my pal's from California )in most Latin American countries you can play the system a bit but not in Chile!! or the roof falls on your head. Talking of "She who must be obeyed" reminds me of I think my favorite couple of sentences in any book;In J. Ryder Haggart's "King Solomons mines" viz; "They approached the twin mountains known as Sheba's breasts and ascended to the left nipple" Lovely stuff!!

Glad to see you are "well" on your way to success. I too was told that our pipes didn't need to be buried because it never got that cold in Three Rivers. Well, they were wrong because last year they had a freeze and half the town's water lines ruptured. This year when Larry was there, it snowed! So I will bury all my pipe from now on.
Your pressure is similar to what my bladder tank provides, about 35 to 50 psi. I find that very adequate for most everything around my place. Your unit sure is nice and compact compared to mine. Mine is like the ones shown in the links that Brad provided. Keep us updated on your very interesting life down there in Chile. It's really neat to see what you are up to. BTW, how's your tractor doing? Have you put any hours on it lately? Rob-

Hi Rob,I'm glad to hear that your pressure being similar to mine is quite adequate as we had trouble with the hot water system because of lack of pressure in the passed (if I had built the Tower any higher I'd have had trouble with low flying aircraft). There really is no problem with frost in the central region, not since records began, if global warming does change things to the point that we start to have frost, the central region of Chile will close down for sure as if we have rain (fairly unusual ) very few go to work the following day as they are all in bed with the 'flu (gripe) and any attempt of mine to explain that a virus gives you 'flu not the rain is greeted with derision (he's foreign you know). The climate really is very pleasant to live in with mild winters and whilst quite hot in the summer, low to mid 30s centigrade,it's dry and livable. Sylvia just got back from a week at Iguassu the huge waterfall that's at the junction with Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina and the temperature was around 35c BUT, humid with it and not nice. I think she was quite glad to get home . I have not put many hours on the 354 recently as we have been in the middle of the holiday season and going places and when I have got to the Farm, other things have taken priority. I keep abreast of all your projects and am still fascinated with the building at three rivers (and other things too), it must do your heart good to see it all "coming together" when do you think you will move in?
