Did you have an architect design your home? I hope you don't mean that this place is only costing $400k. I'm building a 1,800 sf home with a detached garage/shop & it's costing at least 50% more than that (not including the land & infrastructure!).

No I designed it myself, I'm pretty good at ACAD so I did the whole thing and had a civil engineer stamp it. I'm up to 600K now all included. China Baby! You would shit if you seen some of the stuff I have imported from Mexico and China. I have two showers with 13 shower heads... It's like a f'n car wash...LOL

I fully hooked up with Edison power now too! With a brand new 37.5 KVA tranformer . I have a 400amp split main panel/load center with two 100amp sub panels and another 200 amp sub panel... I have over 600 amps tied in already.
Because I'm all electric and in an AG zone I get a special baseline min. For less than 150 bucks I get 1200KWH before I hit the 0.15 per KWH level.
It's funny as hell... The lines coming from the main pole's two main lines and to my house are bigger than the power lines on the actual main poles feeding all the houses around me. I'll post some pics.... You'll all laugh for sure.
And also now my county water is hooked up to the house with two 1.25 regulated mains into the house. I can actually shut entirely the west wing or the east wing down...
Then to even make it better my buddy is an inspector with Edison. Time Warner uses Edison poles to run the cable and internet fiber. He called his buddy at Time Warner and they ran the cable TV from a mile away just for me for free... So I'll have smoken fast internet still.

Hey Scott................ Jeesh...!!!!!!! I thought I had a lot on my plate remodelling the kitchen and bath here in Austin. Your house looks good, uh, well it looks huge and amazing. LOL Can't wait to see what you do to the inside and yard. Don't forget to win the lottery so I can design the inside like Hearst Castle. I want a comfy place to retire.... I'm moving in of course when I'm old and have nobody..hahaha Your Brother.......Jerry

Here's pictures of the kitchen cabinets I'm painting with oil paints in the Tuscan style. First I trimmed the old doors and drawers with wood and primed/painted/glazed and antiqued. Attachments:

Scott,
The place really is taking shape now. It looks awesome!!!
If you could get your brother to take a "vacation" and come over to paint your place, it would be fantastic. His cabinet paint work looks amazing.
BTW, the "clay" looking cast balustrade...are they clay or are they primed for paint?
Ken
