I added twin 5# ABC fire extinguishers to the FEL towers for when I am brush hogging or burning JIC. Larry and Rob have a set too and Larry had to use them when he tried to set himself on fire a while back. That is proof enough for me that they ARE a good addition.

I beg your pardon, I did not TRY to set myself on fire, I actually DID set myself on fire, along with the Tractor, some brush and about two cups of gasoline just for good measure.
Oh thanks for bringing that up Ken, sheesh I'll never live that down will I?
In all seriousness, this is a highly recommended add-on as Ken stated JIC.

LOL. I forgot that you "succeeded". My bad. ;D I remember your incident everytime I use the brush mower, chainsaw etc. so that I will be ready to hopefully act with similar lightning quickness. Hey, I have plenty of my own faux pas to remind me how big of an idiot I can be at times.

I hate to ask........Yea right OK here goes - First a little background - It all started when I posted this picture of the new mirrors installed on my dozer- Ken looked closely at the image of me in the mirror taking the picture, then asked - "BTW, what did you do to your right hand?" At that moment I knew I was busted and had to fess up as to what happened. This was my response - DOH! - I was not supposed to post that picture so I would not have to tell you guys WTF happened. I am busted now. I burned it and it blistered up pretty bad. Get this - I was cleaning all the gunk around the oil filter of Goldie prior to the oil change. I had some gasoline in a metal paint roller pan. After cleaning the oil filter area I had some gas left over in the pan, so lucky me decided to clean some areas over by the BATTERY (hydraulic tank for the Power steering) when the pan shorted out between the battery and ground - blammo instant gas fire, Goldie and I were on fire I threw the flaming pan on the ground, I rolled in the dirt to put myself out, then grabbed the fire extinguisher mounted on Goldie and put her out, then I put out the grass and gas fire. Fortunately no damage to Goldie. After a few Valiums everything felt normal again. You guys can chew me out - I screwed up real bad, I should have put Goldie out first then myself You all would have been real impressed with how fast all this happened. All these years of using gas as a cleaning solvent finally caught up with me. Next time I will use a Plastic paint roller pan with my gas in it. So that's what happened. Satisfied? Larry

Your hand looked painful. BTW you just have Valium laying around? I will have to remember that when I come out to visit sometime...

I must have missed this story before, sounds damn scary... I'm glad you both survived with only minor injury Reminds me of an incident I had years ago.... I was working on a car with the hood up, leaned on the front of the car and my metal watch strap shorted between the +ve on the battery and the body of the car, before I knew what was going on the watch strap was glowing red, by time I got the watch off I had some nice burns I haven't worn a watch since Matthew.

No really if you come over, give ample warning so I can slaughter a cow to throw on the Barbie as an appetizer Man that must have hurt..Damn straight it hurt - having to tell you guys was very painful Matthew: I must have missed this story before, sounds damn scary... Matthew, Oh man sorry you missed out on this. Soon I must tell the rest of the story, you will spit your coffee out on the screen. Your watch shorting out on your wrist sounds like it was pretty bad. Kidd, That wood be swell! Larry

Before anyone asks I will prempt your curiosity with "the rest of the story" Readers Digest version - Just about a year ago to this very day - Rob's tractor will not turn over, This goes on for six weeks, during that time he constructs his articulating BH thumb. I need some machining done, I offer to fly out and fix his tractor in trade for his design and machining services to build me a gear box for a huge back blade project. I fly out, fix his tractor and upgrade his tractor fuse box, he designs and builds me a gear box. (Yet to be posted on this forum) The gear box project turns out to be more than anyone of us bargained for. So I fly Rob and Loretta out to visit me at my joint for a "vacation" as a favor in trade. (I gave them two round trip tickets and room and board at my place). During their "vacation" Rob and I busted our ass's replacing track rollers on my dozer and cutting a new road on my property. We also went motorcycle crusin and sight seeing, About a week after they get home, Rob sends me a suprise appreciation gift via UPS. As the package is in transit, I burn my hand. I ask about the package and Rob gives hints, he feels bad now that he sent what he did. I thought he sent me a bomb or something because I worked him to a near death experience during his "vacation" visit. When Rob's package arrives this is the stunt I pulled - I could not stand waiting anymore to see what Rob sent me. So I finished my out of town work and drove home a day early.
Based on Rob's hints, and my most recent experience with fire, I was a little apprehensive about what was in the box he sent, so I prepared myself for the worst:Esther was taking the pictures and standing WAY BACK using the zoom on my camera so as to maintain a safe distance. To be continued...... WOW - Rob sent me a nice care package full of goodies. In addition to the smokes, I got a really nice Zippo Lighter, Zippo lighter fluid, a very cool lizard skin leather bound Cigarette case, three of his home made and highly polished Cig-Miser's (patent pending) and a very personal letter thanking Esther and I for our hospitality.I filled up the lighter to test it out - you all better stand back:Larry

Can you believe the timing on this? Amazing ! It sure has made for a great story. Now it's time to go out and enjoy one of my smokes.
Thank you Rob!At that my friends is "The rest of the story" Larry
