Hi guys, Thought I'd share our next project for Loretta's 284 Jinma. We ordered a 48" Markham toothbar with 6 teeth instead of the standard 5 teeth on it. Reason being on the 5 tooth model, the 2 teeth next to the center tooth would interfere with the grapple jaw tips in case I reposition the grapple so the tips go below the cutting edge a little. The 6 tooth model has spaces where the jaw tips are, so the toothbar and tips can be sort of interlocking. This is more so the grapple tips can stick out a little for easier grasping of shrubs, rocks and debris, which is what she'll be doing most with her Jinma. I thought about making one, but kind of ran out of time to get a cutting edge and order the teeth. My savings on making an item like this was not very much. The price I paid was extremely reasonable from Markham. They were lower than what I saw on eBay or other places. Plus they made it with the teeth spaced the way we wanted. They are a good outfit and their product is excellent. I've had their toothbar on my Kama for nearly 3 years now. We'll be putting it on this next trip up to the property. I'll take some snapshots of the installation later. Rob-

Rob,
Nice set of teeth for the Honey Bee. It's great to get a good deal like that. Amazing you can buy a tooth bar custom made for about the same price or cheaper that being able to make one yourself. I like those kinds of deals and I bet you do too. Markham must be a great outfit to work with custom making the bar to fit as opposed to some generic bar that needs to be modified. I think you leave yours on all the time? I remove mine in the winter for back dragging snow then re-install it in the spring. Sometime I remove it to smooth out dirt by back dragging the bucket. It only takes a minute or two to install or remove.
I see it has pinned on teeth, it that correct? Oh and how are the teeth holding out on the Huge Kama bucket? I know you use the hell out of that.

Rob,
Thanks I added them in my favorites. Right now I am looking into purchasing a saw mill. To take care of some of those trees on our place. But I've got to get some teeth on my 354. So it has more bite. ;D

Yes, it has replaceable pin on teeth and so does mine. My teeth on Huge Kama are worn down quite a bit now. It's funny how you don't pay attention to that but the other day I was checking them out and they have worn down a lot now. I am thinking of replacing the tips new and then extending my dual grapple jaws out by 6" or so. That will make those jaws go out to the toothbar teeth. It will be a lot easier to pick up rocks and stuff with the grapples that way. Rob-

After all, when you cut those trees you will most likely use your tractor to retrieve and place those logs where you can saw them. So it would be good to have the right dentures on your bucket, upper and lower! Looks like we are not leaving tonight to put the toothbar on after all, because we just found out the last shipment of lights (they are waiting for) will arrive Thursday. So we will wait for them and go up then. Rob-

Rob, Your right on about the tooth bar and grapples. But the current rise in gas / oil prices are cutting into our line of work bad. So the long and short is I don't have a lot of $$$ to play with in the foreseeable future. I do have a set of forks to fit up to my tractor nd can scrape up the dough for a tooth bar but it might be a while before I can build a grapple. We are trying to get out of here this year. Thanks again for the link. Larry PS Its great to see things moving along at your place. Every day just about I hear about more and more foreclosures.

Rob- The Honeybee looks great! Was wondering if you welded plates to the sides of the bucket for the Kama for it's toothbar. You're always thinking never crossed my mind about the hole for the bolt being reinforced- And you have sure used the bucket on the Kama to the max! -Ed

And yes, I did the same on the Kama bucket. Those reinforcement plates come with the Markham toothbar for that very purpose ... to reduce wear in the bucket side walls. So I did not reinvent the wheel, because they had already thought of that. Rob-
