I was wondering about this the other day and thought that I should post this question so that others may chime in re: their observations, experiences and reports.Does anyone know if any of our members/dealers were affected by the recent tornado damage etc? I know a bunch of "us" are down in this area. Just curious that everyone is o.k.

My generator shed got demolished, been up for 7 years out there... This is at some remote property I own out in "Charlie Manson country" near Death Valley. I hauled the Jinma out there on Sunday to finish demolition and to retrieve my Onan generator, barely visible in the middle of that pile of rubble. I also lost part of the roof on the shack in the background. Coulda been lots worse--hope everybody else is OK!

Bummer Jimmy, that's jacked up. Hope you can salvage at least some of that stuff, the generator for sure. Duk, we are OK where we are. We had some high winds and a little rain the other day, but nothing bad.

We had some high winds and a little rain the other day, but nothing bad. Thanks--the generator is/was the only thing of much value in the shed. That fridge was just gonna be a rod box if and when I ever get a stick welder. The gennie needs some work, but it'll be OK. This gives me another project on the back burner. I've lost momentum on that piece of land, and now I need to replace the shed. I'm going stick-built this time, but I can't go any bigger than 100sq ft without a permit. That's in California, not Nevada. Here, I could go up to 575sq ft. Oh well. I've been helping an old woman across the road from me here, cleaning out her place to sell it. Now and then I get something worthwhile for my time. Today was one such time. I got an Imer cement mixer her husband had in the carport, in pieces. Anyone here ever used one? It doesn't look very tough, but I should be able to pour a 100 sq ft slab with it easily enough...

My 8x10 metal shed blew away last summer. The cement mixer looks fine. I have one from HF and it works good so far - I used it to cement a few posts.
Greg, a friend of mine at work is in Chengdu - 50 miles from the epicenter of that 7.9 earthquake. He said they were in a meeting room and it was like God was shaking the room. They crawled under the table and the floor was undulating so violently their heads kept hitting the table. It lasted 3 minutes like that. Very few casualties in Chengdu where construction is pretty modern. He gave blood and became something of a local celebrity for that gesture.

Ken, I have not heard anything, if anyone did get blown away, I suppose they would be having technical difficulties contacting us from "the other side". Some of the reports I heard on the radio is that many perished in their cars trying to outrun the tornado's. Some cars were hurled as far as a 1/2 mile. Not much happening here except the usual hi and dry forest fires pushed by hurricane force winds and no rain in 4-1/2 months but who's counting. Jimmy - that sucks, when I first looked at what's left of your generator shed, and only seeing a fridge, a few pipes and hoses, I assumed the generator shed "generated" beer. ;D Does your power go out often? I have seen cement mixers similar to the one you bartered your services for. They work OK, I think member Dick (bracabric) in Santiago Chile has one very similar. I once made 2 cubic yards of concrete in a homemade cement mixer, it took me nearly 12 figging hours nonstop From that day forward, whatever it cost to have concrete delivered, I gladly payed it. Your Jinma is looking sharp. Is the bucket dump operated by a single cylinder? Larry

There's no power out there, it's almost 3 miles from the last power pole on earth. It's a perfect site for all solar, except for the fact that it's WAY too hot to want to live there. I've recorded 128 degrees in the shade.
I'm with ya on the buying vs mixing mud myself, but I'm on a very limited fixed income now, so I make do any way I can. Still haven't quite justified buying the Jinma, but what the hell, I wanted a tractor.
Yes, only one cylinder. It's pretty light-duty all the way around. I didn't do much research before I bought it. I made up my mind I wanted a Jinma, and didn't give much thought to who made what implements. This one was made near the docks in San Pedro where the ships are unloaded.

Bummer about the shed Jimmy. We just bought a "put-it-together-yourself" wooden shed from Lowes. Hopefully it will clear out the garage a bit more but I have other projects up front so it too will wait a bit. We get a lot of wind at our place too but the temps at your Death Valley place, no thanks. Ken
