Tried a different parts cleaning solution the other day in my 20 gal parts tank/washer.
Brad & Doug should remember this one as it's the one I bought at the Homier sale in Hickory a while back... (for much less than on their website)
Anyhoo..
Was originally using some seriously expensive stuff that I bought online and was never really impressed with.
Sorry, can't remember what it was called.. some overpriced, enviro-friendly junk that cleaned parts about as well as weak tea.
I came home from "Pull-A-Part" (Charlotte) with a functional York F210R air conditioning compressor (for a project) out of an 80's-something Volvo.
Positively encased in about a 1/4 inch of grease/grime/dirt.
Told the wife it was well lubricated.. protected... a feature... they probably paid extra for that.
After scraping most of it off with a puddyknife (seriously), decided I was gonna get serious with the parts tank, so emptied & rinsed it, and cleaned the little pump filter.
Picked up 5 gallons of SuperClean Tough Task at Wallyworld, dumped it in... added 4 gallons of water.
I thought this stuff was made by Castrol, but it doesn't say it on the jug anywhere.
This stuff is intense!
It will instantly breakup & disolve grease. Strong stuff.. even diluted at a 5:4 ratio.
Oh... it will also instantly etch aluminum & other soft metals once it cuts through the layers of grease.
Did I mention York compressor cases are aluminum?
What's the finish that's opposite of polished called?
Whatever it's called, that's what it's got now...
I think I'll call it... "paintable".
Anyway... just had to mention it in case someone is looking for a (brutal) parts cleaning solution.
NOTE: if you use it, read and heed the warnings on the product.. they ain't B.S.'ing... nitrile gloves are a must... preferably thick ones, my thin ones broke toward the end. Talk about dry skin... SHEESH!
