Hi All, I know I haven't been on here much lately. Been a little busy trying to get everything done so we can move to our property in Lunenburg. Been there more than here and no computer of internet there or any other services either. We got Kyrstin enrolled in the school there which was my biggest concern. I am so glad she wont be in city schools any more. ;D The down side is we will be living in the camper until we get the house built. The good news is we have our house plans in hand. Its just a small two story farm house. Heres a link to the web site where I got the plans. www.jshow.com/y2k/listings/57.html Its just a small simple house I can build with Nickoles help. Its not the log home we wanted but I believe we can get this built a lot faster and with a bit less $$$. I will try to stop by and check you guys out when are somewhere with internet service. We need to be moved out of here in the next 9 days to be there and get her in school. I would like to thank all the great people here who have helped us with our tractor and been such good friends over the last two years. Speaking of the tractor its been running well racking up hours left and right. I will check back in again before we move. I would like to wish everyone well. Thanks Larry Kidd

Have fun on the move! Hope you can get the house built and moved in before it gets too far into winter. I like the house you picked, are you planning on wood for your heat? If I remember, you had a couple of trees around,,,,,, just a couple.
You have to finish it up quickly, since Hunting season (Black powder) starts early Nov. ;D

Larry- Glad to hear from you. Really like the plans for the new house. If you can keep us posted I'm sure everyone would love to share in your home-building adventure. Rob's posts made me feel like I was on site (lucky for Rob I wasn't PTA) What have you decided to do for a foundation or are you going to build on piers? Many moons ago a friend's brother relocated down south (no work here) and they were building foundations with pressure-treated lumber! Good Luck -Ed

Hi Kidd, I got a chance to look at your house plans and it a very nice modest home...something I wish we would have done too. In fact, when Loretta and I first started looking a homes in the 3R area, one of them was a 933sf home with 1 bedroom and 1 bath. Construction had been started to add 2 more bedrooms to it, which we needed at least 2 bedrooms because of Wesley. The only reason we didn't buy it then was because we weren't ready to move up there yet (4 years ago). But IMHO, we ended up with a much larger (and nicer) home than we really needed. We got caught up, much like many others, in adding this and that until we got to where we are now. In hindsight, I wish we had the foresight like you do to keep it simple. Now, if had had Paul's money, like for his Mansion on the Lake, then it would be no problem, but we are on a budget too and now have stretched it pretty thin. So I commend you for what you are doing. Best to all. Rob-

Hey Thanks Everyone,
Man moving is such a pain. More junk than any sane person knows what to do with. Waiting to see when this guy is going to pick up my big old dump truck. The little one is still going on duck tape and bubble gum.
Oh man I'm going to miss my garage.
Later guys Larry

Everyone's moving! I just got moved into my own new house last November, but I'm already thinking about doing it again, something I swore I'd never do again! My house is a mere 678 sq. ft. and it's almost adequate, but all I could afford to build at the time. At least there was an existing garage on the property when I bought it. I looked at a bunch of the plans on that site and see several that would suit my needs if I decide to develop my land in northern Nevada. Much as I hate moving, you guys make it look almost romantic...

Hi Larry,
I like the looks of that home you selected. Should be quick and easy to frame in and at least get a roof over your head in a short time. Maybe dig a basement or crawl space with your back hoe? With a basement or crawl space you can add your plumbing and electrical after the shell is built reducing up-front construction costs. Thats what I did and it worked out very well for me. The home we live in now I started in 1977 when I was single. I built it on the weekends from paycheck to paycheck. The shell with a roof took me and a buddy 3 months. After that I spent then next 6 years finishing it out. It started as a 24x28 one bedroom one bath (672 square feet) home. Over the last 30 years it has grown close to 3000 square feet. Now the kids are about 1/2 moved out it seems like a lot more than we need, but the extra storage space is handy for all the "junk" we have collected over the years.
There is nothing more rewarding than building your own home from scratch with your bare hands. You will do good. Please take and post pictures from time to time as your schedule allows.
Good luck KIDD
Larry

It lives!!! Hahaha, how are you Joe? Man, a lot of moving in the air these days. I don't want to trash Kidd's thread, but with you and Jimmy moving too I thought it was interesting. That place in Florida, the Villages, I think I've seen TV commercials about it. Is that the place you turn in you old home and get a home there with all those things to do, tennis, pools, spas and golf all included? Rob-

Hi Larry, All the best of luck with your move, hope it goes really smoothly for you and your family and I agree about a school in the country too !! As it happens, we are about to change residencies as well, we have bought an old farm house about an hour and a quarter north of the big city and when all the paper work is completed ( it's a property division ) shall start to restore it. Could do with some of your expertise . Be lucky !!

We just got back from "The Villages" in Florida. Disneyland for old people. Tons of things to do. We'll be moving down there next year! I'll be giving up "the farming life". Naw Joe tell me it ain't so. YOU in a old people's homestead. . . I see trouble on the horizon- a man so young in spirit is never old Good luck -Ed

Must something in the air. (I still moving stuff myself) Kidd, any pictures you want to share with us. It's been so long since we heard from you I wonder if you still look the same?
