I'm a registered Republican but very much a self reliant self supporting Isolationist now. And I am not political at all. I am DEFINITELY NOT voting for Obama!!! That's for sure. Here's where I agree with you: You don't work in the garden, you don't eat. Rob-

I voted for George twice before as the lesser of two evils and today I think he should be impeached! Never again. I still don't know who I will vote for when the time comes to pull the lever (showing my age here), but it dang sure will not be for one of the Republicrats.
I honestly don't think it will make any difference who is elected. This country is TOAST. We've gone to long and far from our Constitution and with the current economy, it's going to be dog eating dog and the government will have little control as time goes on.

OH BOY! You shouldn't get me started here. I am more like Rob than anything else (scary huh?) and I think if the American voters don't pull their collective heads out and up and see what is really going on (instead of voting for "change" because "it is about time" or some other crap), we are in for a repeat of the original OJ jury attitude where they new he was bad but they wanted some feeble form of justice for all the past wrongs that society has committed.
Personally, I couldn't care less what color someone is BUT you had better be the biggest, card-carrying, pro-american out there and respect where this country came from and those that died for it and us.
Obama is one of the most liberal liers in the Senate, let alone our upper echelons of government but the liberal media won't show this as they are all pandering to him and his ilk.
McCain fits the card-carrying American bill but needs to grow some sizable balls and tell it like it is regardless of how it tastes to the American public. We are all (o.k., most of us) adults and we can handle the truth.
Others? I don't think there are any other choices as it takes BIG money backing to fund a presidential campaign through to the end and no one else seems to have it. Wouldn't it be an amazing shake up to Washington DC if neither the Dem or Rep candidates won? I can't see it ever happening in my lifetime but it would be a hoot to see DC, the media etc. scrambling to say something intelligent.
The reality is that the masses are sheep. Most people vote based on those fuzzy "feelings" or based on a need for "retribution" rather than on facts and common sense. That is why we have an economy and government as screwed up as it is now. We had better find a collective way to turn it around or we will be as worthless as France, Spain, Italy and Britain.
There, I am off my soapbox for now...

Today I heard that if McCain wins there could be riots in the street, so buy your guns and ammo now. If Obama wins you've got two months to buy enough guns and ammo to protect your family before he and his liberal congress ban all weapons and ammo forever. Either way buy your guns and ammo NOW. If things keep going the way they are, sooner or later a Civil war (Conservatives vs. Liberals) followed by a revolution (of the conservatives that win the civil war) will be the only way out of this mess "our" government and liberal media have created. True patriotic, non hyphenated Americans will eventually rise up to take back and restore the America we all once knew. Our nation is at a 50% split of liberal and conservative. Remember "United we stand, divided we fall"? Where we are at today is the result of moral and social decay caused by people being lazy, having basic needs handed to them by government give away programs and not having to take responsibility for their actions. Judges giving criminals more rights than victims and revolving door Justus, appointment of liberal judges, Lawyers and lawsuits and the outrageous awards by juries. Make sure your guns are cleaned, oiled, loaded, sighted in, and your powder dry. Oh almost forgot - when I go into the booth, I will be placing my thumb over the name John McCain to pull the lever for Sara Palin. How can you not rally around a Moose Shooting Hockey Mom? ;D With any luck who ever is our next president our only hope is they get off'd or pass from "natural causes" and the VP takes office. In parting - Hide your money from the government, that is if you have any left! Larry

Sorry to hear you think we are "worthless" Ken, when your legal system is based on ours and your democracy is based on Magna Carta, oh yes and the CIA on MI6. Not forgetting that upwards of 500 of the victims of 9/11 were our people ( owing to London and New York being the two major financial centres of the world ) Oh yes and we being the first ones to go into and stand with you in Iraq and Afghanistan and taking (and giving) fire, not just delivering supplies with orders to stay out of combate situations like some !! And all the time being the second largest contributor after the USA. Oh yes and after 11 years of the worst Government Britain has ever known, everyone regardless of their financial condition has access to full medical care with no charge at the point of delivery, Oh yes and we are still (pro rata ) the most inventive people in the world ! There is quite a bit wrong with Britain after 11 years of miss rule and military cuts upon cuts, but we are still your closest and best ally when war looms and not everything in the USA is perfect. Hurt feelings? just a bit !

Lucky Dick,
Whoa there! I was NOT intending to offend you or anyone else so I am sorry about that. The reality is that most of Europe now leans too far to the left for my tastes and panders to a very dangerous group of people, that being radical Muslim fundamentalists. Sharia law belongs in the Middle-East, not in the "developed", "modern" world.
Re: assistance, some Europeans have stood by the USA in our recent and current fights in the Middle-East and Americans are and always will be grateful for that, much as we were in WWI & II and I can guarantee that WE will NOT forget those and neither should any of the countries that we helped liberate.
As far as government sponsored anything, I think the USA should stop giving away stuff to illegal immigrants (from any country) as the USA has a proper procedure for anyone willing to come here to better their lives...but they should assimilate into the USA so as to benefit all with their knowledge and experiences. We should take care of our own citizens FIRST. I do not disagree that there are some social programs worth having but the reality is that they are supposed to be TEMPORARY until those persons can pull themselves back up and get back to being a good, solid contributing member of their (in this case OUR) country's society.
I HATE the attitude of the "free ride" with nothing needed to qualify other than race or gender or whatever that some in the USA have today. The amazing sense of entitlement really ticks me off. My family and I have busted our asses in true American tradition to get to where we are today as have most of my friends and their friends. We have NEVER been handed anything BECAUSE we are "white". We pay for everything we have, want or need and I'll be damned if I am going to let someone think that socializing everything in America will fix these problems or that I will now have to pay for others too lazy or stupid to take care of themselves. We have never gotten a "better deal" because of our race. In fact, it has been just the opposite my entire life.
We, like other countries, have bad politicians and financiers that take all they can get at the expense of the people and some day, they will get their just desserts. The unfortunate reality is that our Congress was changed recently and THEY are what primarily caused this current market and economic upheaval. People forget that the policies instituted by the Carter and Clinton administrations caused this mess. People still think that the current Bush lied about WMD's but the Clinton White house Cabinet were told they were there and passed this info along to the next administration as verified and valid and all "knowledgeable" people at the time staunchly supported these ideas and actions. They in fact FOUND the poison gas agents, as well as other WMB materials so the Left's lie claim is unfounded as are many, many others.
I couldn't care less what our President or Vice-President looks like but they had better be the most loyal American out there who respects our Constitution (and knows what the hell it means...unlike that lier Joe Biden...and he is supposed to be an attorney...). I love this country as much as any of my friends and I would bet that none of us are willing to go down without a sizable fight. We need to make all Americans realize that they need to be informed and not vote blindly for some "mystic justice" but for the candidate with PROOF of the ability to carry the responsibility associated with the most powerful man in the world. The Pres. of the USA has a VERY heavy responsibility to shoulder and it should NEVER be left to someone who won't explain any doubts about his/her character, associates, friends, families, religion and beliefs nor one who will not swear his/her oath to God and Country on the Bible (some of the primary tenets that this country was founded on) nor refuse to say (and mean) the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag and country.
For all of the screw-ups that the current Bush allowed, he has been successful at far more...but the liberals won't tell you about those, will they?!
We had better wake up or the entire world is in grave danger. Anyone who has truly paid attention to politics and economics around the world for the past 30 years or so (and UNDERSTANDS what they mean) should be VERY nervous right now.
Now, on a lighter note... ;D, how has the weather been down there? We have had strange hot/cold/hot spells here in SoCal. It is no longer the myth of global cooling or warming but now global coolming...or warling...or some other Chinese thing... ;D
BFN
Sheesh, my spelling sucks lately! I just corrected this post. WTF?!

Well hello Ken, OK I'll cool down a bit too, squabbling amongst family is allowed after all ! 'coz the making up's fun! I'll stay away from American politics I think because it isn't really my business , but have to agree with you about handout's that are meant to be temporary and turn out to be semi permanent where I come from there are huge numbers that depend on state handouts and "benefits" and they are not going to vote against the (leftist) party that keeps them in there idleness are they ? and the huge number of "Quangos" ( quasi autonomous none government organizations ) that are ruling party dependent , so we know where their loyalties lie eh? I know that I now live in Chile and love it and if it were possible to be duel nationality British/Chilean I would be but the Chileans won't allow it so ............ the chances of my giving up my British citizenship are absolute zero, my old country that has given so much to the world is going through a very bad patch that will take some sorting out but there are still a lot of (frustrated) good people there and they like me, don't forget their friends, and if my country needs me, they won't need to ask twice !! There are things that we don't agree on but there is a whole lot more that unites us than ever divides us and that will remain so for the foreseeable future (united we stand, divided we fall ) The weather is wonderful, Spring, with temperatures around 70f and clear blue sky's, just the way I like it. Global warling, the huge and beautiful Glaciers down south are melting fast and some will soon be gone, not the time to be buying a coastal low lying property methinks !!
Dick your ally (and friend)

ENGLAND I think this really sums it all up. After hearing that many cities did not want to offend other cultures by putting up Xmas lights, so DIDN'T! After hearing that the Birmingham council changed its opinion and let a Muslim woman have her picture on her driver's licence with her face covered. After hearing of a Primary School in Birmingham where a boy was told that for PE they could wear Football League shirts(Aston Villa,Birmingham, West Brom etc) but NOT an England shirt as it could offend others ! This prompted the editorial below written by a UK citizen. Published in a British tabloid newspaper. IMMIGRANTS. NOT BRITONS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on London , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Brits. However, the dust from the attacks has barely settled and the 'politically correct' crowd begin complaining about the possibility that our patriotism is offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Britain . However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of London being a multicultural centre for community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Britons, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of wars, struggles, trials and victories fought by the untold masses of men and women who laid down their lives and one of the Millions of men and women who have sought freedom. We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language! In God we trust is our motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture. If St.George's cross offends you, or you don't like ' A Fair Go', then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our National Motto, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great British freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'. If you aren't happy here then P*** OFF! We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted. Pretty easy really, when you think about it !
Dick

Ha, that is funny Brad. How did you do that? Rob- You don't want to know what I had to do for that tattoo. Actually there is a link at the end of the video. Very quick and easy. Just copy and paste the link from the sample message it generates.

Found this on another site, makes me wonder, honest mistake? or maybe not?? "Hundreds of absentee ballots sent to voters in Rensselaer County, NY, identified the Democratic presidential candidate as 'Barack Osama.' Commissioners for the Rensselaer County Board of Elections say they 'regret the error.'" www.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/3387/717345?title=AP+News+Smart+5&wpid=97bracabric, You know we have the same problem, even though we are a "young country" by comparison. Too many are more worried about offending someone than sticking by their country. How come we have to have everything in different languages to suit everyone else, yet I can't find a operator that can speak English? I spent 2 hours on the phone the other day just trying to get someone that I could understand!! An old cartoon, but still applies: (Hope the picture works) Well the pic didn't work but If not heres a link: picasaweb.google.com/awhalifax/WebTemp#5256275664547420258I've got a couple others in the album that apply. Brad, absolutely CLASSIC!!! That had me ROTFLMAO.
Lucky Dick, That piece in the paper is PERFECT. We should print that over here as it expresses exactly what most "true" Americans feel but don't have the stones to verbalize when asked...except for me of course. ;D
Aubrey, I now have that printed and on the wall of my office at work.

Regardless of his race, we are in for a world of socialized change that we (Americans) really do not want. The margin was only 3% but with the EC, it was enough.
What is really sad is that the "people" of this great nation looked more at his race than his stance on key issues, his dangerous liasons or his lack of fortitude and lack of experience.
Did he run a better race than McCain? Absolutely.
Did "we" make the right choice? Absolutely not!
I think the country pulled another "OJ" just because they felt that they "deserved it" or it was "due" but the real test will be to see how he handles the key issues facing our country and whether or not he realizes that the USA does not want Socialism.
I will say that he has big brass ones as he is already campaining for his next term. If you missed the remark, I'll paraphrase a bit here.
"You voted for change and I can't promise this change will come in my first year...or even in my first term but..."
Stones the size of cannonballs!
...so much for living up to all of his "promises". Typical of a politician to lie and say anything to get elected and when it is a sure thing, backpedal into vagueness.
