NICE Buck!!
Just got back from hunting up in Maine for Thanksgiving week, spent the week in a cabin with Brother in laws, freezing in the snow, pooing in an outhouse, drinking waaay to much at night. Man that was a good time but it cold up there. Compared to Virginia. Only saw a couple of Does, nothing with horns.
I'll try again this weekend. Love to see something like Linus had!!

Hey Paul, Way to go. Nice 8 pointer you got there. Now I'm definitely going to have to take one of the bucks on my property next year. I think I've let them skate too long!! Rob-

Thanks guys, it restored my faith in prayer, I sure was praying I`d see a dear. I was only off from work for the first two days and around here if you don`t score on opening day you`re usually out of luck. So I was in my last hour of hunting when he showed up out of thin air like a "spook" literally out of nowhere he appeared. So many people have pointed out how handsome he is and he is the 1st buck taken on our place that I`m having him mounted. A straight forward shounder mount with competition eyeballs and the ears in the agressive position back and down. The bride is fit to be tied, I might have to hang him in the garage next to the tractor.

Nice kills guys. As Rob and Loretta can attest, when we stopped by this past Thanksgiving weekend, my daughter was checking out the ones Rob had mounted, as well as the large wild pig/boars head that was still on the floor. She asked questions like: 1. Is it real? 2. Is this it's real "skin"? 3. Are these it's real teeth? "Wow" she exclaimed...then all of a sudden she gave a tug on the tongue and "POP" out it came! ""OOH GROSS!!!" she yelled. "Is this it's real tongue?" ...as she is wiggling it back and forth while staring at it almost with interest... "No dear" we told her, as it wouldn't last. "That one is fake...and made out of plastic". "OH...GROSS!!!". Rob and I couldn't stop laughing!!! ;D

I was having a real hard sell with the bride and the buck mount, she was dead against it going anywhere but the garage, basement or walk in closet. I had to go to the taxidermist anyway to give him a deposit and decide on the final mount. So I took a big gamble and asked the wife to come with me, but I had to agree to take her to Walmart for some shopping after the taxidermist. We`ll the gamble paid off, all except the Walmart part where I had to pay out. The taxidermist was a sweet and charming guy, who had obviously dealt with wives before. He had a big and beautiful pole building full of things to see, he showed her old style examples of deer mounts which is what she had locked in her mind and was dead against having in her house. He then showed her his modern style work and what he wanted to do with my particular buck. She loved it and so did I, he`s been doing deer mounts for 20yrs and so my old adage of "shutup and listen stupid" took effect and I just went along for the ride. He is doing a semi sneak mount, looking slightly to the left, with competition eyes and the ears back 3/4. He actually had a buck on display that could have been the twin to mine done exactly this way so we got to see it. She is now letting me hang it in a very nice spot in the new 2nd floor family room, the downer is that it will be 8-10 months untill we get it. This mount is usually $450, but because my hunting club gives him so much work he only charged me $395, (I think he liked the wife) So for once one of my lifes gambles paid off, she can`t wait for it to be done and hung, and I was worried I was the one who was gonna get hung.

Great to read that story Paul. It's funny how wives come around on some things like that. Loretta has made a 180 regarding her views on guns, hunting and shooting, the animal mounts and even tractors! ;D Life is good again... Rob-

Nice deer guys. Paul that is a great story. My brother Milton got a nice one on his property in Wisconsin during gun season. Shotgun/slugs only in that part of the state.

Wonder if I could get a monster like that shipped over here??? I'm not sure what the shipping cost would be........ I had a good start in muzzle Loader season, but have struck out since.

HAHAHA...Funny...but she IS still a vegetarian... Have you converted her to your Conservative/Isolationist side yet? HAHAHA... ;D OK, now that you've trashed Paul's thread all to hell. She is getting used to the new lifestyle but still complains about all the rifles and pistols she keeps tripping over. What was it you said when you were at the ranch? ... "looks like Turner's in here" As far as her being a vegetarian, I got back at her after she picked some tomatoes from our garden at Rancho. I gave her a dirty look and said ... "that's why I don't eat vegetables, I hate it when you kill them like that". Rob-
