Thanks guys, so glad you like the mod.
Hahaha, a plumber too! ;D Now Tommy and I are blood brothers.
This mod took care of the oily smoke coming out of the old breather completely.
The extra tall breather does not let any oil get sucked up like what was happening with the stock breather flange. I can can see some of the smoke condense as it goes through the clear tube, but no oil getting sucked up.
The small .200 opening was not doing it.
That's why I went to the 1/2" pipe elbow instead. I used a 1/2 valve so the ID is 1/2". I think I could've used a 1/2" pipe nipple without the valve and that would be the perfect opening. It needed to be quite a bit larger than what I had guessed too. I checked the filter minder by blocking the air filter intake opening and it registers a block. However, the engine bogs down but keeps running roughly because it can suck a slight amount of air through those breather cap holes. By putting my hand over the air filter opening shutting it off abruptly, there is an immediate difference to the filter minder and it pops up yellow. Doing it slowly MAY not make it register. So when the filter gets plugged up slowly, I don't know if the filter minder will register it or not? But I will feel the difference in how it runs (like before).
I'm not dissatisfied though, because the main annoyance was the smoke coming out of the old breather cap. I can deal with the air filter even if the filter minder does not register. It would be like stock, I guess. Sometimes you can have your cake and eat it too ... other times not. Again, I'm still not sure of this and only time will tell if indeed the filter minder will register.
