Rock Hunting

Another of the stupid things I do with my tractor is drive it through the woods like an ATV to hunt for and gather boulders with the grapple and fel.
This is when I absolutely wear the seatbelt, I`ve tilted the tractor something awful doing this stunt. But I keep going deeper and deeper into the hardwoods looking for more.









This is what I have been doing with them.

Hey Paul I like that allot as it makes for some fantastic looking landscaping on the cheap, not only that, after a long hard winter of plowing snow off the driveway, In the spring you get to put the rocks back, good thinking there Paul. You planned that out flawlessly so as to get more seat time and make more use out of that cool grapple of yours, very good indeed ;D

Thanks Larry, I have a thing for rocks, must be the Italian heritage. I also love Christmas trees, I went to see my friend who raises trees from seed and picked up what he calls his builders specials.They are not considered perfect, he only charged me $35 a piece for two 6ft Norway Spruces and a 6ft Blue Spruce.
He dug them up on his nursery and I had them in the ground at my place an hour later, God Bless the backhoe, it is the perfect time for planting these spruces by me.

Nice photos Paul,
We did something very similar with rocks separating the different levels around the home. It was easier finding ours though. All we had to do is get them from the side of the road. Man, if you want rocks, you should come over to our place! We have so many rocks it would make you head spin.
Your place sure looks nice and the rocks make it even better looking.
I like those spruce pines too. Something we also want to do.

Thanks Rob,well once the spring planting fever starts it`s hard to curb it, the wife and I made another trip to the nursery to get three more "builder specials" Blue Spruce trees and again I was able to get them back in the ground in a little over an hour.







Here is one of our picks tied up and being dug out, these trees we are taking are aprox. 10yrs old
