Hey Paul,
Nice gate making good use of "scrap" materials to boot. Your drive looks like the entrance to a national park, very beautiful and green! I suppose you constructed on site welding with a generator?

Thanks Larry and Jeep, I did the onsite welding with my 40yr old Scott 11HP portable welder, it can do 190amps DC and is also a generator, but it is seriously loud when running. I guess noise concerns were a lot less in the 70`s. I have to use ear plugs when operating this antique or I can`t hear myself think, the racket is deafening. The start of my 1/5 mile access road comes off the back of what was once a cul-de-sac deadend road. So there is a 50 foot diameter circle for people to turn around without need of backing up or doing any K turns. There is also a street light that fully illuminates the cul-de-sac at night and also the new cherry red gates. I`m hopeful that it won`t get hit but I probably should get a reflector or two mounted on those 10ft swinging arms one of these days.

Very nice Paul. How do you lock them? -- Like Jeep, some klingon drove into my gate and I had to replace it -- just used a store bought one though -- I like the look of yours better regards Steve

Thanks Steve, I wound up adding a 6in long nipple to one side, that let me put a very large eye bolt on each arm about 6ins in from each end. these eyes face each other and overlap one another when closed. I then insert a tow hook/hunk of metal, off an old pickup I once had that fills the eyebolts opening completely, it then has a large American brand padlock going through it at the bottom. I`ll have to take a picture of the lock next week, and of course like any gate or fence, it only helps keep the honest people out.
