Well I lived through another pumpkin picking expedition to appease my wife`s fetish for pumpkins. My friend Lenny Burger the farmer had a very bad growing season and lost 75% of his crop. He will actually be buying pumpkins to scatter in his field for the tourists to come pick. He was once again kind to us and let us into his only good field and he charged us what he will be paying for pumpkins which was $60 for a bin. He didn`t have any of the small pumpkins this year, only medium and large and we wound up with about 100 pumpkins filling the bin. We also had some company, a flock of chickens came to check us out in the field. I guess we were a sight out in a pumpkin field with a high top conversion van picking pumpkins. We also took some pumpkin flowers home which we breaded and fried, this was something my Grandfather used to talk about doing. The bride was against it but did it, they were really delicious. Paul

Wow Paul I thought you were kidding about "fetish and pumpkins" Better check the tire pressure. ;D Lucky you that we have finally had a dry week that field would have been a muddy mess. My tomato plants are huge and loaded with tomatoes only problem is that they're not turning red got the black disease so in the trash they go. -Ed

You said it Ed, even as dry as it was I had some tire slippage going through those fields. The wife was behind this choice of pumpkin transport, she felt it would work out better than our 4x4 pickup for this chore. Of course she is nuts but I`ve learned to pick my battles, we are going through the endless joys and surprises of "MenoPause" and I don`t mean to insult any of the people who are just regular nuts.
