Here is a simple mod for the Jinma Parking break lever. Those Chinese dudes must be closer to the pedals than me. Soon after I got the tractor, I added this extension to overcome the difficulty of reaching the darn thing. This is a 1/2" piece of conduit about 12" long with a bend, one end is hammered flat and two holes drilled through it. The OEM handle I had to drill through is hardened and was extremely tough to drill out. The Handle extension is never in the way of setting or releasing the breaks nor is it ever in the way when mounting or dismounting the tractor. I've been using this lever for nearly three years, so far it's stood up to the test of time. Larry

Excellent mod Larry Here's my quick n easy copy: It's just a length of poly pipe... I went for poly pipe rather than steel because I was concerned about catching my size 11's on it Matthew

Cool mods guys. I'm sure Loretta will have to do that to her Jinma. I couldn't tell if yours were automatically releasing when the brakes are pushed down like on hers? You know mine on the Kama needs to be release manually and I drive with it on all the time like a dipshit. ;D Rob-

Oh Great Matthew, just slip over a piece of poly pipe, Why didn't I think of that? Here I am drilling through hardened steel to mount the stupid thing. How is it you always figure out an easier way? Nice and simple plus functional. I couldn't tell if yours were automatically releasing when the brakes are pushed down like on hers?Rob, on mine, If I mash down hard enough it will release. But most of the time I push a little on the breaks while pulling on the lever at the same time. Like you, I drive off many times before realizing I have not released the breaks. Larry

Excellent mods, guys. I'll have to do that on mine. I'm always fighting the lever.
You're right, those guys must be shorter or something because I have a heck of a time reaching it!

Here is a link to how to put a brake warning light on --- in my case I might have to use an LED side marker with a strobe just to make sure I notice it!!! I always thought you were supposed to set that parking lever with your foot -- easier if you are wearing flip flops maybe ? Maybe a bad habit but most times I use the FEL bucket as my parking brake -- it is harder to drive away with it on the ground than with the parking brake set. johnstractor.homestead.com/BrakeLight.html

LOL yea or maybe they have really long arms?
Maybe a bad habit but most times I use the FEL bucket as my parking brake I bet allot of us do that, I sure do. I use the tractor on hills quit a bit, the FEL parking break technique don't work so good then the tractor is facing uphill. Often I fill the bucket with firewood, raise the bucket over the back porch rail, set the parking break then unload the wood from the second story porch.
I like the strobe light idea, I'm afraid I would need a hand that pops out and slaps me when I try to drive off with it set. Got any plans for one of those ?
Great input guys I can tell your gong to have fun here.

LOL ... Yeah, that's what I'd need too! I've driven off so many time with the brake on it's not even funny. I thought of a red light or some other warning signal, but I think I'd miss it. My thought on my Kama which has a handbrake next to the seat, was to weld a piece on that would stick up blocking reach to the shift levers. I use the bucket and lower the rear implement all the time.

Maybe you extend the parking brake lever with one of those "CLUB" steering wheel locks and lock the wheel each time you set the parking brake!!!! --Or start taking memory enhancing drugs!

I must have taken the wrong drugs when I was a kid and now they're starting to take effect. ;D
