Heading to Oklahoma from South Carolina the other day and took my normal route, up I-26 from Columbia, SC and then pick up I-40 West. Sure got a surprise when the message came across that 40 was shut down in NC due to a land slide. their detour took me 147 miles out of the way, finally getting me back to I-40 West in Knoxville. They say it could be closed down for a long time as they have to blast some of the rocks down to a size they can move, plus make sure no more rocks are ready to fall. Sure feel sorry for those folks that have to go to work that way. There's no short cuts in that area. PJ
