Roy, fiberglassing isn't that hard to do. When repairing a part, like your instrument panel, make a wooden jig to secure the pieces to and fix them to the original position as possible. Make sure nothing moves. Lay two sheets of course glass on the back side, one at a time, rosin them good and let dry over night. If the rosin was mixed right, the dash should be rigid and you should be able to remove the jig and start working on the front. The secret to glassing is not to be in a hurry. Use a finer glass fabric on the front as it's easier to smooth out. With patience, the dash will look like new when your done. Don't worry about overlaps, you'll just grind them off when finishing the surface up. One thing very important, Wear a respirator designed for fiberglass! You do not want it in your lungs![/size]

Thanks. Going to call Tommy about some parts so it may be a while before I have any updates.

I have decided to not do the fiberglass. I must have went off the deep end, I found some stainless steel at the scarp yard. $10 I'll post pictures later.

Well the dash is done. Not as pretty as the factory but much cheaper. The instrument cluster was damaged, mostly water, but had quite a rattle in it, turned out to be parts of the tack had rusted. The tack didn't work so I took it out of the cluster & put a used hour meter in its place, another freebie from Nick. Added Oil pressure gauge, now I have a gauge & a light. It was running when I took the picture, good oil pressure. Found a $35 seat so I modified it to fit the old seat pan. Next Nick & I started working with the wires, trying to figure out what will work. ALL of the lights on this tractor was broken so I have to replace them all, I have about 4 that were donated to the tractor project so far. As you can see the hood & fender are back on. Still a work in progress.

Starting to come back together hey? Do you have a name for it in mind? No disrespect I vote for "Frankenstein" LOL. All your fixes are functional and look great. The oil pressure holding at 60 is a good sign.
Keep the updates coming, I enjoy reading and seeing your progress reports.

Well I will take that name as a suggestion. Ordered a few more parts today, radiator cap & hood latch. Where would you put headlights on this thing? I was thinking about behind the grill on that piece of angle that you can see in the picture. It would be protected in there but I don't know if I would get enough light through the holes. I decided to put an overflow on it. I have an old used battery that seems to start it pretty good so I have decided to buy 1 new high amp 12 volt battery for it to replace the 2 six volt batteries that came in it. Still need to find a solenoid. Also put some lights on the Roll Bar & some backup lights behind the seat. Have any of you put lights under the tractor so you could see the ground under you?

Roy, Since the tractor will not have a front end loader, my suggestion for head lights is right up front in the grille. Alternately or in addition to the grille lamps a set on top of the ropes is a really good spot as well. Lamps on the ROPS really light up a wide area in front and side of the tractor and if you put a set facing rearward you would be amazed how wide an area gets lit up. That's what I have and I'm very satisfied with the results. What I installed are two sets of el-cheapo aux lights from harbor freight. I've not considered a set underneath because, well if you run over something it's too late already anyway. Best bet is to light up all around and you should be good to do just about anything at night. Larry

If only things were so easy, any how I have a few Aux lights that were donated to me but no BLUE lights. I have thought of mounting on the rops but I let some one talk me out of it. I do have 2 clear lights mounted on the rear behind the seat & combo lights, red & amber on the rops. I have Autozone local so I guess I'll have to get over there & get one, thanks.

Well today I changed some of those odd grease fittings on the front end. Started greasing the joints & I have one that will not take grease, new fitting installed. Did not pull it out to see if the fitting is bad, will check that another day. Found the drain plugs for the injector pump, they have them buried so bad I don't see any way for me to get at them. You can just see one but the other one is just as bad. Also in the picture is New oil sending unit for the oil gauge. Got some lights mounted, We will see how they work one of these nights after dark. Here is my first try at making a pin. Have not been able to find the flasher, where is the switch for the four ways?

Question for the board. looking at the books, grease fittings, book refers to OIL CUP, are they the same thing or are they different? Checking across some other boards I see I am not alone being confused with these things. Book says 10 lubricating points on the front of a 4 wheel drive. I had one kind of fitting on the right side & same point on the other side had a different fitting. HELP! Are there grease fittings that can cause damage if over done, like the water pump for example? Don't want to blow out seals. Found 2 more on the front axle outside of the wheel? Nick says they are for the bearings, they are above the oil level so I need to grease them.

Found some conveyor belt (thanks again Nick) Been under it greasing the fittings, got the front end flushed & refilled.
