The hydraulics have it's own sump,it does not connect to the transmission, and it is higher than your pump.Where did you check and fill the hydraulic fluid ? Hopefully behind the seat ? Once your sure it's full (it has a seperate dipstick behind the seat ,Break the line loose on the top of the pump and start the tractor,it could be air locked since this tractor has set a long time.If you don't get anything with the line loose you are going to need a new pump.

Well I'll be. Could not find that in the book. I will go out & take a look for that. Thanks Tommy Well I found what I thought was a vent & upon removing it there is a dip stick on it, oil is very low. I can see oil in the tank but not near the stick. I went through the books that I got for this thing & still have not found this information, knowing that it is there I am now finding reference to fluid level but nothing about the tank or stick that I can find as of yet. Thanks again

Yes I have the light blue parts book (bought that from you a couple weeks ago). Found the tank now that I know what to look for, they call the dip stick a breather assembly on page 182 & 184 & mine looks different. I over looked this item because it looks like a vent. Nick told me some tractors use the same oil for the hydraulics & gear box, we followed the lines & that is were they looked like they went, so I ASSUMED that the diesel that I put in the gear box to clean it before I put the regular oil in that would be for the hydraulics also. (WRONG). Tomorrow I plan to change the rubber hoses at the filter before I fill the tank. Do you have rough estimate on a pump? And we started repair on the fender, still in the rough but coming along.

It's around $ 200.00, I need the number off yours if you can get it,if not I would have to assume it's the same as current model for the FT404

Well good news & bad news. After replacing the 2 rubber hose return lines we filled & bleed the hydraulic system. Started the tractor & the 3 point seems to be working fine, still need to put a load on it but it goes up now. Bad news is the primer pump is not doing it's thing very well & the injectors have a problem so we pulled those items off the engine & took them to a shop to see about rebuilding them.

Not till now. Nick pulled that stuff really fast & he knows people here that does that so we dropped it off this afternoon. I will keep that in mind. After I drained the diesel from the gear box I didn't get very much junk so I stuck my finger in the largest drain hole to feel if there was any stuff laying on the bottom that did not flush. I found a bolt & was able to get it with a magnet. Question is were did it come from? Measured it , 39.62mm long & 11.7mm dia. There seems to be a little paint on the head & there was a little bit of what looked like silicone caulk on the threads. You can see the H Z 8.8 Any thoughts?

With the gray paint it was a external bolt, somebody prob. dropped it in there when they were doing something, good you got it out now.I'm going to say it was a gear box cover bolt, once they dropped it they just found a relacement.Look at the top gear box cover to see if 1-bolt look's different

I was hoping that the paint indicated something other than an internal bolt. I'm not a mechanic by any means, all the bolts that I have worked with on some car engines, transmissions, rear ends, none of the internal bolts had paint on them. I'll check out the cover bolts today.
Roy
Do you know what the stamped letters on the head indicate? Not found anything by googling. The 8.8 is the grade of the bolt, as I understand it is not a hardened bolt. I would think any bolts internal would be very high grade or hardened.

Hi Brad I dropped off the injectors & primer pump to get rebuild. They called me today & said they cannot. Called Affordable Tractor & after getting a price for the injectors I ordered them & then I asked for a price on a primer, have not heard back so tomorrow they might get the parts in the mail. I have till spring to get this done so I am not in a big hurry.
After looking at the chart, wow. I spend a lot of time looking for this stuff but was not able to find it. The second site my antivirus will not let me open it, says attack site, I have had problems with some sites so I just leave them a loan. THANKS
