Talked with the guy that is going to put up the pole barn today, he has not started it yet. I think when we did the contract I gave him to much time & he has been working on other stuff. Bottom line he said he would begin work on it Friday. Down side is the tarp that has been covering Franky tore down the middle so now He is exposed to the weather. Due to family health issues with my mom I can not get away right now, darn. ( Hang in there Franky )

Got a phone call from the neighbor that Franky is living with that they showed up Tuesday & started building the pole building. Eli & I talked today on the phone & he expects to have sheet metal on the roof by Monday. I decided to take a few days & go down & take a look & FISH & give the man more money & FISH. Plan on trying Snapping Turtle, I hear they are good & I have some big ones in the pond. My son is going to help me build a trap, we will see how that works out. Any thoughts on the traps or turtles? ??

It's been a while but I remember helping my brother harvest some of his turtle traps. They were basically a floating wire cage with a trap door hinged at the top that the turtle pushes open to enter. It closes behind him and he can't get out. They had a small bait holder like a crab trap. He would catch fish for bait. A trot line with a big dead minnow on a big hook can also work. Here's some info on turtle trapping. The author appears to be a vegan. www.chelydra.org/snapping_turtle_trapping_and_relocation.html

Well I got some pictures of the pole barn, such as it is this last weekend. My son, wife & I went to the back side to cut some trees off the dam. After taking a couple of the bigger ones down the bar came loose & I didn't have any thing to tighten it with so we quit & went back to fishing. Man is that big inverter ever nice. It run the chainsaw just fine. You can see I was not thinking very well, dressed the way I was, shorts, short sleeve shirt. (The tree in the picture was bigger than the 16" bar on the saw) I did get it & a few others down.

Looks very nice. How about some pictures of the inside? Never had a pole barn & only looked at a couple. Now that I am having one built I am looking closer & interested in the details if you know what I mean.

Well Eli finally came back & put the roof on. Said he would get the walls done in a couple weeks, only time will tell. Sure would like to get my stuff under roof. Once I figure out how to keep the pontoon in place I plan on using it as a floating dock, it's 24ft.

Well the pole barn is up. Pictures later. Making special trips got costly so when he was done & had his hand out I deducted the cost of the trip & I paid the garage door people. His final payment was $200, not the $500 he was expecting, I told him to take it or leave it, he took it. Talk about threatening, name calling, ect...

Congrats on getting the barn done! Doing anything over a long distance is a pain.
A friend of mine has a place on the river and he has 2 old pontoons he built simple decks on out of treated lumber. They are graat rafts just to paddle around and swim/fish from. I think one is set up with a small motor mount. Maybe you could leave yours detachable from the shore for little excursions.

Do you know any of the details about building a boat dock? How do I keep the poles from sinking? I've been thinking about how to do that & just not sure. It is not the highest on the list of things to do down their. Any thoughts would be helpful.

Well the wife & I went down to Kentucky last week & pulled the trailer out of the new pole barn & the wet clay stopped us at about 20 feet out of the barn. Need more stone. Their we are stuck in the mud, key to Franky is in the trailer. I used a screwdriver & hot wired Franky, got some chain & pulled the truck & camper out with no problem. Franky started right up, love that.
