Merry Christmas to every body. I see so many good answers here on this board I just have to ask. I have a 07 Dodge 1500 4x4 5.7L that I had a remote start put on and after it sets for a few hours the anti theft factory alarm goes off when I use the remote start. If I shut the truck off after driving & within a few minutes use the remote start it works like is suppose to. Only way to avoid setting off the anti-theft is to unlock the doors before I use the remote start. Alarm place is baffled. They have replaced the brain & a module two times. Only after it sets for hours does it set off the alarm when I use the remote start. Audio Vox single button remote start. Any thoughts? ??

1: Could be the battery voltage is dropping just low enough during those couple of hours to set off the alarm when the starter is actuated?
OR #2 the Alarm is set to trigger if the engine starts without the doors being unlocked?
Maybe try rigging up a battery charger (with hood closed) to see if # 1 theory above is correct. Maybe it needs a new battery?

The factory remote start in our 09 Chrysler won`t work unless the doors are all locked and the windows are all up.

The battery was in it when I bought it 10 months ago, so if it is a little weak that could be. Thanks

Today went to the dealership & had the PCM flashed to update programing, the brain box that controls just about everything I think. Over the phone they told me that would be $99. I explained what some of the problems I have with the truck & after checking it there was no charge. They did may updates, what ever that amounts to. Hope that fixes stuff. I have no air blowing on the floor at any setting, they checked that & said I had a broken door, estimate to fix (are you setting down) $1150.00. I told them not to go any farther. Tonight I put a battery charger on the truck, 1.5amp, in the morning we will see if that is the problem.
We had a bit of black ice here in North West Indiana this morning, on the way to the dealer I saw about 6 to 8 cars involved in wrecks.
Merry Christmas every one.

Update: The auto start worked like it should. Next item is: 1) did the flash to the CPM fix the problem or 2) is the battery weak. I will leave the charger off tonight & see what happens in the morning. Thanks again for the help.

Roy,
Any battery shop should be able to load test your battery to see what condition it is in. Specific gravity only tell you so much, bu ta load test against a carbon pile will tell you what output the battery actually is capable of.

I bought 1 new battery for Franky This year & have it in the garage. It was the biggest I could find that would fit, it had to replace the 2 6volt batteries that were series-ed on the tractor when I got it, so I would guess it is big enough to turn the 5.7 L hemi in the truck. Just make a quick swap. If I need to I will take it to a shop for a test.

Be careful swapping out batteries in that new truck, Roy! Some of those blasted things are made so that the computer loses its mind when the battery is disconnected. Dealers and service places have a battery they jump in first when they have to do that so the voltage never goes away as far as the computer is concerned.
Before I disconnected the battery in the truck I'd check with my dealer about that.

You have a good point there. I'll check with the book & see if I can see anything their first.
OK I found lots of places in the book that state remove negative cable from battery before .............................................. So I feel safe doing the battery swap.
I was unable to locate my terminal cleaner, must have left it in Kentucky, so I was unable to clean the battery post till I can buy a new one & then I can try swapping the battery.

OK Had the battery tested & they said it was OK. Got home & took Franky's battery that had a charger on it for a day & installed it in place of the truck battery. 6hrs later I used the remote start & it set off the alarm. Called the place that installed the remote & they said bring it in. Dropped it off this morning & they put a different brand remote start system on the truck. Said if that does not fix the problem they would remove it & refund the money. I don't know how much drain there is on the battery when parked but I did notice a spark when reconnecting the battery during the swap. I did put the truck battery back in. Tomorrow morning will tell if it is going to work.

Well. The truck sat all night, very cold here. The auto start fired the truck up & no alarm. YES. Only time will tell if it is a good fix or not.

Well here it is Thursday & the remote start has worked just like it should, no alarms. God is good.
I looked at a map and I was wondering how the weather is down their this week. Kind of thinking of a vacation & get out of the snow for a couple weeks. We have never been south of Key West.

This week has been mostly breezy (10-25 mph) and light showers with intermittent sunshine. Temps between 75 and 85F. Personally, I find it chilly, but I'm thoroughly acclimated to the tropics and prefer it around 90. :-)
Gotta be better than the weather up there!
