Yeah, well, speak of the devil and he pops up, doesn't he? ;D
Rob posted both here and on TBN today, and all is apparently well with him. As I suspected might be the case, all his efforts to improve his and Loretta's tractors resulted in machines that haven't broken since. Everything I know about tractors I learned form Rob breaking stuff and fixing it better than new and then sharing the methodology with us.
Like you, I wish I knew half of what Rob's probably forgotten and had about one tenth of his energy. I could rule the world! ;D ;D

Brad and PJ- I have been on CTOA (Chinese Tractor Owners Association) for many years and don't believe that that is the site you mean. I suspect that you may mean the CHINESE TRACTOR OWNERS CLUB FORUM where someone named Joe is the Moderator. My understanding when I joined this site was that was where Larry and Rob moved from to help create this site. RonJ That's the one I meant. Sorry if I said the wrong name. I never said anything off color to or about anyone and I don't use fowl language, but one day I tried to log on and found I was banned from the site, with no explanation! I do belong to other forums though. Oh well, such is life. PJ

I'm still here. Been sort of MIA for a while but I'm alive and well. Ever since I took a new position at work my time has been a bit "compressed" so I've had to make some cut backs on my browsing time. I seem to be working 16 hour days 7 days a week. Man I'm too old for that crap! Time for some fun every once and a while. Not too much exciting going on for me as in no major tractor projects. I pretty much made all the tractor stuff I need (for now). The most exciting thing for me last year was the purchase of my new Ural which can be found CLICK HERENext to that we adopted a new Alaskan Malamute he's a rescue dog we re-named him Ivan as in 'Ivan the terrible". My wife and I have owned dozens of Malamutes and several Mutts over the last 30 years. We never learn but they are just so cute and made for our environment so we could not resist getting another since we lost our last one (6 Toed Joe - Joey for short) to old age. At one time when we were breeders we had 13 Alaskan Malamutes at one time, what hoot that was! Malamutes come in all sizes and colors; Ivan looks more like a wolf and not a "traditional" Malamute that most are familiar with. He's a real character. Notice the “Mute” in MalaMute, They don't bark not only that I swear all Malamutes are Deaf because they don’t listen to a darn thing you say except for “time for dinner”, “let’s go for a walk” and Mush. Maladeafmute is more like it. I’ve trained him to pull a sled. One of our twin daughters Kim comes to visit once in a while with her two rescue Siberian Huskies and we have a sled team. The late Joey: I’ll post more in the appropriate section as time allows. Happy new year everyone! Larry

Happy new Year to all. Glad to see forum is still here after reading that E-mail from Larry. This weather pattern has been craZY. i was having a beer outside today at 60 degree snow less weather in upstate NY today. Usually its a high of about 30 this time of year. I'm not complaining mind you but I was looking forward to some seat time moving snow. LOL. ;D

Well, it's a shame but there seems to be less and less activity on this site anymore. I don't see how it can stick around much longer. With no activity, advertisers will disappear and funding will be nil. What a shame. PJ

PJ,
I check here at least every day, sometimes more than once. I haven't been doing anything to the tractor lately so nothing to report, but I do check in. I have noticed a similar drop off in activity on the other Chinese tractor forums, and on my blacksmithing forums as well. These things go up and down periodically for no apparent reason. Since this is a "free" bulletin board deal ( I think), I would suspect that the Google ads or whatever are sufficient to keep up with the hosting fees.
Now, if this site had the traffic and used resources like the blacksmithing board I moderate, it would be a different story - we have to pay something like $160/mo for hosting on that one. But we get something like 200- 1000 discrete visitors per day on that one. In spite of that, the members have been pretty quiet lately so it seems as though nothing much is going on. That will one day change with just as little apparent reason and people will be posting twenty or thirty new posts a day. There's just no way of predicting what is going to happen.

Hey Gents, there is definitely a trend, Ebay used to be full of chinese tractor auctions, now very few are listed. The weather in NE PA has been bizarre to say the least, yesterday 66 and today it may hit 70. I`ve been using the nice weather to start outdoor work like clearing out the hurricane downed trees. I skid out what I can for firewood and burn the tops and smaller branches in a burn barrel. I figured I`d get some of this wood out of the way before I start spreading all the fill dirt that I have in piles.

Well, it's a shame but there seems to be less and less activity on this site anymore. I don't see how it can stick around much longer. With no activity, advertisers will disappear and funding will be nil. What a shame. PJ Hey there PJ don't be down and out. Were still a viable forum and 583 members strong. Paul and a few others have been posting their activities. I wish I had something as exciting as Paul's new tractor building to show off - lucky dog! I am also envious of his wood cutting posts (especially the quality and type of hard woods he gets to gather and burn. All I got is Pinon Pine and juniper (similar to red cedar). We still have many members browsing the forum for information on a daily basis. Just because there are not that many new posts recently does not mean we are dying a slow death. As spring and summer arrive the activity should pick up a bit. As Rich alluded to this is a free forum and yes the advertisers keep it going. Our forum is just one of thousands that the hosting company controls and sponsors pay for so I don't think it's going to get the boot anytime soon. We also still have some credits (paid for out of the administrators pockets, Rob, Scott and myself) to make the board add fee - I just have not applied the credits lately to remove the banner adds. Don't rely on the few who make 90% of the posts for new content. I encourage everyone who has not started a thread of their own to "step up to the plate" and start some new topics. You don't have to be a build it yourself expert nor do you have to post some amazing project to foster interest or participation. Even if all you do is plow some snow, cut the grass, move some dirt or watch paint dry. Most of us would be perfectly happy to know what's been going on in your life and to know that you, your family, friends and pets are OK. Larry

This is a list of the top 30 posters. For those on the list, make it your goal to move your name UP the list. If you don't see your name, make it your goal to get ON the list. Larry Attachments:
