Does anyone know if there is a torque specification for the lug nuts? I've suffered the dreaded loose lug nuts so I've started checking them as part of my maintenance routine. My usual practice has been to jump on the lug wrench until my feet are sore, but I think with a torque wrench I'd be a little more efficient.
On a related note, my general policy is that if a nut comes loose, I put loctite on it when I put it back on. However, I've read somewhere the claim that the lug nut loosening is caused by the lug studs stretching and lengthening, due to inferior quality metal. If that's the case, the loctite may keep me from losing my lug nuts, but it won't be any help maintaining tightness. Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Quicksand, You might try SealsAll for a low strength thread lock. Works better than locktite with all the vibration these tractors get. Far as studs go I replaced mine with ones from NAPA. If you can look other places you will find a post about it and the part #s. I would get it for you but I am not welcome there any more. Its not bad changing out the rear studs I haven't done the fronts. For your original question about the torque. I have no idea I run mine up with the impact. I make sure not to go to tight the factory ones would strip with my impact under full load. Which a bolt that size should not do but they are made out of pot metal far as I can tell. Good Luck KIDD

Larry G posted about replacing the front studs on Goldlocks and it required tearing apart the front hub to back the studs out. Lockite or Sealsall got to help even if the stud is stretching; believe Larry's wheel almost fell off while plowing snow -Ed

....believe Larry's wheel almost fell off while plowing snow -EdIndeed! everything you said is exactly what happened, Impressive memory Ed. Click Here for the Wheel Stud Replacement threadAfter replacing the chewed up wheel studs and widening the front wheel stance, I used Blue low strength locktite on all the stud threads, then ran the lug nuts on with an impact wrench just as tight as the wrench could make them. I have not had a problem since. Larry
