Hello all. I am Arto from Sweden. I am a refuge from another China tractor forum I have my second Chinese tractor now a Mahindra 254 with a FEL and a Italian backhoe, 124H on the clock, I have had it since July 2010. I had a DF254G2 before this and sold it @ 32H because I needed a tractor with CE certificate to be able to get a good insurance. Both tractors I have imported directly from China crated.

Welcome men, a lot of good info to be found here. Pardon me for asking but isn`t Mahindra made in India. Paul Thanks, Not the 254 model (2525 in US) , its a re-badged upgraded Lenar 254. Its made in China in the Jiangling Motors Company Group factory, which has a joint venture with Mahindra.

Wow, I guess the Indian`s are now "out-sourcing" to China. First I`ve heard about that, I`ve been waiting for the Mahindra diesel pickup truck to make it`s long awaited debut in the US, it has been one delay after another. Nice looking machine, best of luck with it.

Paul Not quite out sourcing, the former Lenar tractor has always been made in this plant, Mahindra just put other stickers on the 254 when they bought the factory. You know Mahindra owns also the Jinma company

Hello everyone - looking at the map it seems that I am the only member in Scotland. I am sitting as patiently as I can, waiting for the 23rd July when my Landlegend 404 arrives - complete with 4in1 loader and Backhoe. I also have an International 414 and a Nuffield 4/60 - one works and the other doesn't !
The 404 is a Dong Feng I believe, badged for the UK - 4 cylinder Changchai diesel engine 4LD 40B.
The one thing that I have learnt from owners of "ChinaTrac" so far is to ensure that my nuts are secure !........... I should manage to cope with that but I reserve the right to ask some stupid questions.
Regards

Hello Billbirch and a hearty welcome, you may be the only Scot but as a Brit expat living in Chile, it´s good to have you aboard !! I hope the 23rd. of July doesn´t take to long to arrive and is a nice day. I bet of the two Tractors you already have it´s the Nuffield that doesn´t work, I never new of an IH 414 that didn´t work or indeed a Nuffield that was all in order, my Dad used to say ¨They won´t pull the skin off a rice pudding¨. Don´t worry about stupid questions, I´ve already done that !

Dick - Thank you for the welcome, hope I can do this Forum justice. I perhaps should confess to everyone that I appear to have set a new world record.............a similar but rather less than worldly chinese tractor forum banned me before I had a chance to complete my profile - I apparently have the wrong attitude !
Anyway, I will also confess that I am not a true Scot (not even in my kilt !), lived just outside Aberdeen for 33 years after being attracted to the oil industry from the steel industry on Teesside so not yet fully accepted into the local community !! You are correct by the way - the International puffs and splutters away without too much fuss, the Nuffield - well - is there a battery big enough to turn it over ?
Looking forward to asking my first question or maybe even providing an answer to someones problem.
Regards Bill

33 years eh? I remember when I moved to rural Herefordshire several people for the first 10 years greeted me with ¨'ello stranger¨ .You may Judge them by what I was told with strait face many times, viz; ¨ It's to cold to snow, and it won't get warm again until it does ¨ Despite my 10 years in Chile as soon as someone hears my accent it´s ¨where are you from? ¨ no matter how hard I try to sound local, but I love the place. I really hope you enjoy the forum, it really is a repository of very usefull information , it's dug me out of a hole more than once and has my continuing gratitude !

He He - it arrived today - in the pouring rain of course. The pictures were taken as the lorry left Cowling Agriculture in Somerset. You can just make out the fingerbar mower and the muck fork besides the wheels. Now I have to work out which lever does what ...........the booklets aren't exactly comprehensive ! All 3 tractors are for Aberdeenshire or thereabouts - it would be good to see if we can get in touch. I have already PM'd Randalls of this forum (and the other one) - he is in Aberdeen somewhere I believe and bought a LandLegend some time ago, but no reply yet. I shall put further posts under the DongFeng section Regards

Congratulations and good luck with the levers. Somerset to Aberdeenshire is a long, long way wouldn't a Train have been simpler ? Dick

Like to say Hello, I recently purchased a second hand 2006 Foton 254A tractor. The guy had been having engine problems from overhearing it. He was going to actually going to take off the tires and junk it. I decided to try and save it to plow snow on my long driveway and other chores around the property. In a short time I have had the head milled and valves ground. Head gasket, new head bolts, new glow plugs and rebuilt the hydraulic pump with new seals. Runs like a Champ! Next is the brakes need replaced. Hood is in poor condition and I fabricated a reasonable grill on the front to get by for now. Thanks for having me and I'm enjoying wrenching on this little monster.
