Hi Guys,
For all you chaps sweating it out in the lower states, I thought I would post a pic of my machine doing other useful work. Hope it makes you appreciate the weather down south :-)

Hey Jim, Great to see you join this board. And thanks for sharing that picture man. It sure looks cold at your place. How deep is it and what is the temperature over there? It may not seem cold to you, but out at my place it is right around freezing with a highs in the 40's to 50's. That's cold for us! Rob-

Jim,
Welcome ! Wholly smokes man what a load of snow you got. I bet it's nothing for your dozer to push the white stuff around.
How long have you had that JD450? I was also wondering what all that steel is toward the front end? Please post some close up pictures of your dozer, I'd like to check it out.
I was hoping we would get a bunch of snow ourself, but so far only a few inches here and there., sure has been cold though, last four or five days it never got above 11* F. I guess that's nothing for you.

Hi Rob,
Here is another closer shot (without bucket). The snow was close to 24" which fell over two days. Temperature was around -15C or 4F . Tha winter was pretty cool. This winter by cmparison, is quite a bit warmer, though we did have three or four days where it went down to -35C or about -30F. Then it is getting really cold and you stay indoors unless you absolutely have to go outside. Even my dog (a Great Pyrenees) only went outside to relieve himself and then wanted back in straight away.
I am halfway up the BC interior about 500 miles north of Vacouver - almost at the centre of the province. Today the sun has been out and the temperature was 34F for several hours - it kept me busy shovelling the snow that came off the roof and fell on the sun deck ;-(

Oh dude that is crazy! What do you drive to work? A monster Truck? Hi Scott, Nah, I is retired and just get to play with my toys. Actually, I am running the JD450 pretty much on a wing and a prayer at the moment. One steering clutch quit working about 2 years ago and I have been using the machine mostly for snoow clearing, using just the one steering clutch. It is amazing what you can do with just one side steering :-) :-) ;D ;D I have the parts already to do the seized one during this spring/summer. While I have the machine apart I will probably do the second clutch as well. Never worked on these things before, but they are just nuts and bolts and like any other machine, they have their own arrangements. Have two maintenance manuals so between them, experience and good luck, I hope to get both steering clutches fixed this summer. In the meantime, I am literally winging it when I am clearing snow mariner
