Wow Larry, That video says it all. That rake works extremely great, much better than Loretta's. Not only in consideration of all the multi features it has, but also from it's size and weight. It really get in there and digs. You have made one heck of a useful tool there. I'll bet you are super pleased. Rob-

It came out really nice Larry!!! I can't view the videos at work ... ...but I'll check them out later at home. I like the idea that you can rake up the twigs and sticks and then rotate the rake on the fly to windrow them off to the side. Verrryyyy cool!

Nice work! I'm sure it's the only parallel shift, jeweled rotation, fully hydraulic landscape rake in the world!
(Of course the parallel shift is my favorite feature)
Thanks for the detailed construction log - I just got a chance to catch up on it last nite. I'm in the same boat as Ken with the pics blocked at work. You could sell plans for $50 each easy.

Thanks millions guys, I really appreciate all the comments. Here is a follow-up on the rake.... Been using it mostly for raking rocks off to the side of "Suicide Hill" (my forest access road that Rob and I cut with the dozer) It's holding up quite nice, I have some bent tines but not so bad it affects performance any. So far the overall rake is holding up to some respectable punishment and I have not broken or bent any other parts. The powder coating is holding up OK, there is some fading / oxidation of those parts exposed to the sun, the powder coat is rubbing off to bare metal where the boom rubs on top of the index plate, but I kind of expected that anyway so no biggie. Here are a few pictures of it in action doing the very thing it was built it for: Larry

Raking the rocks on the trail, I could not help but notice that fall is upon us! and so are a bumper crop of Piñon Nuts (pin-yōn - Spanish for pine nut) . About every seven years the Piñon trees on our land produce cones loaded with edible nuts. They are very tasty, so much so they could be considered addictive. The seven year cycle is approximate (average) for each tree, not the entire forest, so every year about 1/7th of our trees produce nuts that we harvest to enjoy throughout the year. They can be eaten raw or roasted, I prefer them in the raw. Some years are better than others, more cones, hence more nuts, nut size, and weather or not the shells actually contain nuts. This years crop has turned out to be a good one, I took some time out from raking and picked an entire quart of nuts in just a few minutes.... Larry

Very nice follow up, very cool Larry. That rake is no doubt the best I've ever seen. Loretta uses hers all the time and I'm quite surprised how good a job it does. Yours is on steroids, of course. So the Pinion nuts are in season again. That should make for some great munchies. Are you gonna take the time to collect a bunch of them and save them? Seems like a worthwhile thing to do, seeing as how good they are. I think I remember seeing them for sale when I visited you, and they're not cheep. I get the girls to help. Also looks like that road is holding up pretty good. That sure was a lot of fun helping you build that. I'll never forget that vacation. It was a blast and we did so much. Your rake offset is very cool. I should (one day) modify Loretta's rake to do that when I have time. Right now I'm very busy watching the grass grow. Thanks for the very interesting update! Rob-

Ive never had or operated a rake before so it's cool having one with with all the bells and whistles . I think next time it snows, I'm going to try and rake (plow?) snow with it, you never know, it just might work. Are you ready for winter? I think I am, got all the wood cut split and stacked, garden hoses drained and put away, Roof vents covered, RV winterized, and, and ? I guess thats it? Oh and the snow plow mounted to the ATV, I love plowing with that thing because it's so agile and can get were the tractor cant. For the small snows 6'- 8" I use the ATV but for anything deeper than that, the tractor with my 360* rotating Rob-O-Blade wins hands down. Larry

Rob- Thank you Rob, For something home made out of my primitive shop, the rake is amazing and has exceeded all my expectations. I have just about finished the reconstruction of the CAD plans I lost of it when my computer crashed. I'll be sure to e-mail them to you this time when I complete them. The road you and I cut is serving us well, It's held up well to the punishing monsoon we had this summer. Every time I travel it, I think of the great time we had building it together. And are so thankful you came to visit to have a good time surveying and staking out the road. Not to mention replacing the track rollers on the dozer, and all the other stuff we did together, that was fun too. What a "Vacation" that was wasn't it? Hey we need to get together again soon, we miss you guys allot. Oh And I need some more of your famous Dutch Indonesian sambal. Maybe we could trade for some Piñon nuts? LOL - You busy watching grass grow? Not a chance, I bet your busting your ass as usual. Good to see you having some fun with those new .170's every once in a while though. You ready for winter? does your new shop have some sort of heat? Larry

It's been almost 2 years since building this 7 foot robo rake. I finally got a chance to shoot and post some video trying it out on a little over a foot of snow that fell on us a few weeks ago. It works as good pushing and plowing snow as it does raking rocks out of dry dirt. It also minimizes tearing up our asphalt milling driveway in the process. Equally important is the ability to change the angle and offset on the fly. Below is a compilation of video taken widening out our dive a few days after the "big one". Larry

Well Larry you got me there! Figured you were kidding about raking the snow. Gotta say that we can still build it better than the chinese. Actually you and Rob can build it better than the Chinese. -Ed
