Just thought I would share my wood burner. . The stove is a Woodstock Soapstone. The stone is called Georgia Peach and was difficult to work with. Was able to do one course of stone a night after work and used lots of sticks/wood to hold the stone in place until the mortar dried. I don't fire up the woodstove too much cause I installed a pellet stove on the main floor. Pellets are a lot less work. A bag of pellets last about 20-22hrs and almost no ashes to deal with. -Ed

That`s quite a beautiful job of stone masonry you did there Ed, top shelf. I know what you mean about the mess a wood stove makes, I don`t think the bride would put up with it anywhere else but the basement. But it helps keep the propane and electric bills down a little, and it`s exercise that I can sure use.

Hi Ed, thanks for sharing. Nice looking wood burner and stone work. I presume you did it yourself? Way more work than I did, that's for sure. I know what you guys mean about the mess for a wood burning stove. Ours is right in the living room and we are constantly sweeping up around the floor and hearth. Rob-
PS, did you get your hoses yet?

Thanks guys
Rob didn't get the hoses yet but they are supposed to be delivered today! Yes I did the stone work myself even got most of the stone for free (leftovers from my brother -it was his friend that did the fireplace/ brickwork) When the fireplace was being buildt I had the mason put a secondary 8X8 flue in for the stove and the mason wanted to cut it flush to the cinder block wall but I told him to leave it. Basically I used concrete block to create the outline of a fireplace and then set the stone against the block. Wanted it to look like a fireplace that was converted to a woodstove. The mason liked the stonework, it took months before I got him back to brick up the fireplace. (that was the deal when he was available) -Ed
