Damn, that's a serious trailer hitch for an ATV, Larry! How big is the Airstream you're planning to pull with your little 4-wheeler? (grin)
Good idea on incorporating a skid plate for the differential housing!

Thanks Rich, The home made hitch is pretty much bullet proof now. I use the ATV to haul firewood in a little trailer 4' wide x 6' long with 16" sides, ~ 32 cubic feet. With the trailer filled to the max with cut logs the payload is about 1100 pounds + the weight of the trailer ~ 300 #'s or so? so that a grand total of about 1400 to 1500 #'s I estimate. Here is a pic of the trailer I haul.... Larry

Man, the wheel is such a cool invention - wish I was the guy with the patent on it! Imagine trying to drag that stuff across the ground with no wheels...

Nice design Larry! I like the use of a quick change tool holder for a press brake die.

Nice work on that traxter hitch Larry -- on mine I just welded the receiver hitch right to the platform and have not had any problems with it for a few years.

Nice design Larry! I like the use of a quick change tool holder for a press brake die. Hi Brad, Thanks for the design compliment. sharp eye noticing the quick change tool holder. The tool holder as break die was just something I quickly grabbed to get the job done. In the future I should mill a slot in a solid chunk of mild steel to make a die that might not shatter under the pressure. It worked good though and it didn't break (no pun intended) so it worked out. Nice work on that traxter hitch Larry -- on mine I just welded the receiver hitch right to the platform and have not had any problems with it for a few years. Thanks Steve, What brand model ATV do you have? Is the hitch similar to mine? I welded mine like you said but it kept failing, I suppose I exceed the weight limits coupled with hilly and rocky terrain was just too much for it. Larry

Larry - I have the Traxter -2001 footshift -- as you have said that trailer hitch is a POS that cracks and I could never get the ball platform tight. I took it to the weld shop and they welded it completely together including the receiver hitch -- I think it now has more welding rod than original metal! I used to use the ATV a lot more than I do now that I have the Jinma -- but I have had some pretty heavy loads of firewood on the hitch and it is still in one piece -- I do worry about pulling those two bolts out of the axle so your design is a much better idea, especially if you ever mount a winch in there.
