Was out with a friend the other day & we stopped by an Alternator rebuild shop that he does business with & I asked the owner about the GM one wire alternators. He thought for a minute & told me around 700 to 800 rpm they should start producing. He also told me that it didn't matter if the alternator was built for a gas or diesel, they are pretty much the same when it comes to rpm. Would like to hear from some one that has taken the time to put a tach on one. Hey Mariner have you heard about yours yet???

I put a voltmeter on my 304 when I replaced the OEM alternator with the Delco 10Si alternator. I used the 3-wire alternator and the OEM pulley swapped over to the Delco and all is fine. At idle (600-650) the Delco is pnly putting out about 12 volts but at 750 it comes right up to 14v output and peaks at 16.5v/1000 rpm. Handles everything Ive thrown at so far.

Rich Sorry, just saw this. 26.5V out of an alternator in a 12V system? Rich was that a typo?

Yeah, that was a typo, Ron. Thanks for catching it - I corrected it.

It is a three wire unit and big in size too I Haven't checked it against the Jinma mount yet, but will do later. If it is too big for the Jinma I could always use it on another vehicle. For $40 including shipping, I think it is a good deal regardless. Will let you guys know. Thx mariner
