Model 210 Two Door Post Built in the Norwood, Ohio Assembly Plant on Monday, May 27, 1957
One of 162,090 of this Model Built.
Since I guess about age 10 my dream car has always been a 57 Chevy. I`ve window shopped Ebay and Hemmings for years but never did the "stars align " for me.
That changed two weeks ago as I was pecking around on Craigs list a site I rarely go on. By complete chance I happen upon a 4 day old listing for a 57 210 that appears to have been loved by it`s last two amateur restorer owners who each were forced by lifes turns to pass it on.
There was a lot of work done and a lot of money spent but it is far from finished.
I had never seen one this far along anywhere near the price point this one was at.
The frame was gone over and painted in a bronze/copper finish, nicely done, new tubular front end pieces installed with disc brakes, new power double master cylinder, new brake lines, new gas tank and lines.
The guy I got it from put the body back on with new mounts and bolts, put in a chevy 350 that he said came out of a 1970 Camaro, it has a cam, holly carb and aluminum manifold and "Rams Horns" cast iron exhaust manifolds. I`m not sure if this is the Z28 LT-1 motor?
It has a turbo 350 or 400 automatic transmission and a nice Hurst shifter installed. It runs on the battery and drives but there is no exhaust, just open manifolds.
It needs the body work and interior done and basically a complete rewiring.
The last owner also put brand new tires on it and replaced all the glass, but the windshields fit is poor on one lower corner.
I`m gonna need help identifying the make of these tubular front end pieces. it looks like a decent install job but the shocks were never put in so I have to locate the correct ones to put in. Also each lower arm has a large unused hole in the forward corner, is there a sway bar that is also missing?
Anyway at least my wife didn`t cry when she saw it, she actually smiled.
I need to take some pictures and I need to start asking questions, I`ve waited this long and was not exactly ready for this project at this time, but she is legal and insured and she`s here.
