I need to get a plow for my tractor.(35hp diesel 4x4) But I would love to hear from those who have used them. I have never used a plow. My little 28" tiller behind a garden tractor has taken care of my needs in the past. But starting with raw land thats covered in trees I think I am going to need more. I think a plow will help to get some of the roots out also. Thanks KIDD

The thing is, plowing in virgin ground can be rough unless you get a trip beam plow. If they hit a large rock or root they trip. without a trip plow that sudden stop will reach and get your attention!!!!

Dwayne, I'm guessing when you say 2 12s or 2 14s your talking about a 2 bottom plow? And your saying to allow 15 hp for each bottom? What do you think of middle busters? I understand they work well for potatoes. Can you tell I have no idea what I am talking about? I sure appreciate the help. KIDD

Dwayne, I'm guessing when you say 2 12s or 2 14s your talking about a 2 bottom plow? And your saying to allow 15 hp for each bottom? Exactly. As far as the middle buster goes It works great for digging potatoes or to run a small trench. To get virgin ground in shape to sew grass, crops, or food plots you need a turning plow and a disc. Well, i say you need it. you can do it other ways. That is just the easiest way. You could just keep running a disc over it but, that will take forever. Those tillers that work off the 3ph do pretty good but again lotsa jack. Plus it takes a lot less time for all the vegetation to rot if you turn it under. Turning plows aren't cheap. I got mine for 150 but was lucky. 3 to 400 is more like it for a good used 2 bottom plow. Tractor supply has about the best buy on a new 2 bottom plow. If time is not a problem go with a 1 bottom used, they can be had at a descent price.

Thanks, I will start looking around. To make the most out of what I have I was thinking. I could plow it up smooth it out with the box blade or pulverizer then till with my little tiller tractor. That way I only have to buy the plow. Maybe I can get a disk or bigger tiller in a few years. Thanks for the help. KIDD
