My land has about 1/2 acre of small 6"-10" stones intertwined with the earth. Most of these were a bit larger till I ripped through them with the D-6. I really want a rock bucket rather than doing what I have been doing... loading the rocks in the dirt bucket by hand. I seen this pic of a bucket some guy fabbed up... I really want to do the same. But have expanded steel sides for better sifting. Rob, do you have a use for something like this? I could only see a few months use for me. Then I would be good to go... Does your quick release match the same as mine? That would be something I would like to look at. I could get all the steel laser cut and fab it up... Then maybe you could use it?

Scott, I don't have a quick release yet but plan to make one. Heck, it's been in my plans for the last 2 years now! I even have the steel for it in my shop. When you're done with that rock bucket, I'll buy it from you. What size is that bucket??? I can definitely use that thing. Just don't screw it up too much. I've seen how you tore up your property with that bulldozer in one day!

What size is that bucket???
I was thinking of making it narrow.. Like just a bit wider than the FEL arms... Maybe like 4-5 feet... My thinking is if the bucket is super wide you would have less digging force to really stick it deep in the ground and scoop the rocks up.

I was also thinking when I went on rock duty, I would have the rock bucket up front and the Ripper in the back... If my ripper is 4 feet wide then I would want the bucket to fit close to the ripped width...

You might want to leave it wide like it is. I would rip the area with your scarifiers and make several passes. Then go back over that area using the rock bucket. It will sift through the loosened dirt and get the rocks out better than just trying to dig them from un-loosened dirt. It's a safety measure so you don't run into a big ole rock or root that will stop your tractor in it's tracks and possibly bend the rock bucket or your fel arms. Try it that way first and if you don't like it, then shorten it up. Rob-

3" between ribs? Or more? I have an awesome design. Depends on what size rocks you can live with after sifting through the dirt. The farther apart the better it sifts, but you don't want to leave too many rocks in the dirt, right? I haven't measured the rock buckets, but they looked like 3" or 4" gaps. So that would be the number to shoot for. Another thing on the width, with your tractor you could easily go for a minimum width of 72". The goal would be to rip your dirt as fast as possible and use the biggest rake your tractor can handle to get as much crap out of the dirt in each swath you take. That leaves more time for drinking beer. ;D Save those rocks into a pile for rip-rap by your culverts or use them for drainage areas. Rob-

Yea I'd definitely go with a wide rock rake, at least as wide as the outside width of your front tires plus a few more inches. Got a pic of your awesome design? Does it have rock ejectors for those stubborn rocks that jamb between the sifter bars? I don't anyone has "rock ejectors" so maybe your design already incorporates that?

Larry No "Rock Ejectors" in the design.... But now you got a good idea there... Hummmm
