Here's a 5min video of me plucking out a few small stumps with the 4in1 bucket... (as usual it's best to click the "full size" tab at the top left, it's 640x480) I ended up bending the center of the front part of the bucket down a bit at the back, I think I did it on the last stump in the video When it was closed there was a 1" gap where the 2 parts of the bucket meet... To bend it back into shape I just opened it about 6"and placed a 4' length of 6" x 3" hardwood through the gap from below pointing forward, then lowered the FEL so the length of timber levered on the back part of the bucket and bent the bottom front section of the bucket back up into place, it's as good as new again now (sorry I didn't take any pics) In future I'll take a bit more care and 1/2 push the stumps over before gripping them to pull out Matthew

Great video showing your stump pulling technique. You got that area cleared in a hurry and your method works great. It shows how powerful your DF and the 4 in 1 bucket combo is. Couple questions for you. What are you going to do with that area? Did you have the tractor in 4wd when doing that work? Rob-

Rob: You got that area cleared in a hurryThat's only part of what I did that day, I pulled around 50 stumps in a little over an hour.... (I usually bash the stumps on the ground a couple of times to knock the dirt off before piling them up, but I didn't in the video because I was trying to keep the video short) What are you going to do with that area?Just clearing good tracks tracks through the area, I'm sick of weaving in and out of trees... + I'm working on clearing the fire hazard, and I'll plant some nice red flowering gums over there eventually.... That's over in the far NE corner of my property, the neighbour below me is planning to build near my boundary in the next couple of years so I thought I better get good access around the area and clear up a lot of the fire hazard.... I have aerial photos from 1983 which show the area was completely cleared... Most the trees that have regrown are wattle trees that only survive about 10 years, the grubs get into them and they don't tolerate drought well.... There's almost more dead trees than live ones around there now... Did you have the tractor in 4wd when doing that work?Yes I did, but only because I forgot to put it back into 2wd.... When doing things like that I usually put it in 2wd to be kind to the front gears and try to avoid doing what you did to the mighty Kama Thanks for your comments Rob Matthew.

Very cool video Matthew: Here's a 5min video LOL my Internet connection allowed me to view it in only 20 minutes Man the 4in1 on your DF just rips those right out of the ground, nice. That area you cleared looks like one of the few flat places on your land. Larry

lol... sorry about that Larry, I should have mentioned it's about 14meg (and not dial-up friendly) Man the 4in1 on your DF just rips those right out of the groundThe ground is pretty soft over there, the dirt's very powdery once it's broken up... + the wattle trees have fairly weak shallow roots... That area you cleared looks like one of the few flat places on your land. With the camera pointing up the hill it looks flat, but it's not really... I guess I'd call it gently sloping, it's sorta flattish in spots... (looking at the map the 5 meter contour lines are about 26 meters apart)... Thanks for your comments Larry Matthew.
