Finally picked up a Land Pride LR 3584 rake in PA and had to transport it all the 300 miles to my property in WV.
It rained so hard and the ground was as muddy as I've ever seen it so unloading and welding on the 2" receiver mounts for the gauge wheels was delayed.
It finally stopped raining and I easily unloaded it from the trailer with the bucket. My original intention was to simply get it hooked up and park the tractor, but said what the heck, I'll give the road coming in some time to see if all the falls accumulation of leaves and much could be scraped off. It worked half decently as the leaves were really wet. I'll do it again when things dry out in the near future.
Not content yet, I attacked the other roads and it did an incredible job of removing all the leaves and sticks. I'm impressed with how well it works. I hit roots and stones with no deflection of the tines. I don't even think I will have to use gauge wheels as it was easy to stay level and not dig in too deeply. The best feature of this rake is that it can be shifted to the side allowing raking at least 2 feet past my tires which is real handy in cleaning out the ditches. I easily raked the mud completely out of a low spot on the road that is almost always wet. This spot will ultimately need the ditch fixed and a culvert installed but that will have to wait til later.
The rake is very heavy duty and the price reflected that. With 6% tax it came out to $1351 for the 7 ft. model. Pricing at other dealers was much more expensive as they didn't have any in stock, I had to pay $250 shipping, and the list price was over $1500 so I'm happy with the deal I got. It weighs about 500 pounds so add on weight will not be needed.
I had a ball running this rake and couldn't stop saying WOW! This rake is worth every penny I spent for it and look forward to doing things that that the scraper blade just couldn't do well such as smoothing the stone. The scraper blade always wanted to dig in.
I know this is boring info to the posters here, but I just had to report. Yes.........I know I should have taken pictures and even had my camera on me, but the batteries were dead. Will get pictures shortly and will post about mid next week when I return from SD.
