Hi All Got myself a great deal on a used 3pt splitter for $300. It appears older but in great shape. Looked up JC Hallman Manufacturing in Kitchener Ont. but no reference to log splitters. As you can see by the label about 16 ton force with 26" capacity. Cylinder is 4.5", Now the paint and testing................ Went up to the cottage and hooked it up. Nice the DF's have the rear remotes. Hooked it right up, put the revs at about 1500, it takes about 20-25 secs to go the 26" has the automatic return. Tried it on a few logs, worked great. The video doesn't show the log operation as I couldn't get log, splitter, operator and camera man all together (was bymyself) Only put a bolt in the toplink, didn't have a pin handy Enjoy, Dave

Very cool Dave. Another great tool and a great buy to boot. I like the Jinma red paintjob...but how come not DF green? ;D Ask some of the guys, Rob, Larry and I like to paint our tractors and implements. Others actually "use" them.... JK Rob and Larry. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Actually, I finally found a matching RED paint in spray cans and quarts. It is Rustoleum Cardinal Red. It is almost a dead match for my 354 Jinma red.

I did find a very close match to the green that my DF is and plan on painting the canopy to match, but I had the red around and I liked the contrast. Plus in the woods it will stand out a little more so I am more visable in the fall when the bullets start flying and so I don't trip over it although I will loose the battle with the tractor.

good buy! Dave.. As fast as 3 point splitters come afailable they are snatched up so I'm still looking. I have a northern 254,Jinma red. and I painted every implement red. I don't use them that much but they sure look good next to the tractor lol good luck with it .... Bob

Hi Bob
I'm always on the lookout for a good deal, and then I'm ready to grab it after doing a little homework. Its hard to pay new price if you can find something good used. Also easier to justify to the better half. Next on the list is a post hole auger. Hopefully soon as I have some work this summer. I have seen new ones for about $650, maybe in that magical $300 range would be great.

Hi Dave, Wow, you did a dandy job making that log splitter look brand new! Three hundred bucks is a super good deal too. I'm sure it will last you a lifetime. The one I have works off the tractor and is also a little slow, but sure beats splitting by hand. I get to lift the logs on to it and my wife Loretta gets to run the splitter. Rob-

I'm pretty sure you could find one in that range. Just keep your eye on Craig's list, eBay or look around your town. I have a Lienbach 3pt PTO driven one and it works just fine for us. Of course I would love to have a hydraulic one, but we just don't use it that often so the one we have is fine. Rob-

Thanks Rob,
I don't wish you any bad luck, but i'm sure I'm not alone enjoying your detailed mods and unfortunately repair threads. They educate us all everytime you document a fix. As a relative newbie but eager to have some fun with these tractors they are always a great read.
