I'd say the thing is haunted - can you tell if it is groaning in Chinese or another language?

Sounds like the grease is not getting every where it should be Richard, sounds like a dry pivot joint. What about spraying the heck out of the noisy joint with WD40, if that makes a difference in the creak you`ll at least know which joint is not getting the grease. It`s also possible the joint will loosen up with use and exercise, sort of ironing out the kinks. There are a lot of mods for that model backhoe as I recall, they are necessary mods for strength and safety. www.farmry.com/pdf/pdf01.pdfwww.jdbequipment.ca/jinma_backhoe.phpPaul

Could be an alignment issue at the pinned connections. See if you can get the cylinder in an unloaded position and see if the ends wiggle freely within their clearance on the pins.

Brad, I'll check that. I'm going to flush the hydraulics, it has ATF in it right now. Richard

Sometimes a cylinder will, "groan as you call it", internally due to the tightness of the piston seals in the barrel. Naturally it could be the most obvious, a dry pin, but if everything is greased right and it still does it, it's probably internal. If it is, it won't hurt anything, it's just annoying. Sometimes a change in oil brands will cure it. PJ
PS, WD-40 is a Water Displacment chemical and not a lubricant as most people think! Ie--WD! It won't do a damn thing for lubing a pin or anything else for that matter. Hint, if your distributor is wet inside, spray it with a good dose of WD40 and the water will disappear, wipe it with a rag and go.
