I don't know about you, but I keep forgetting that my 4wd is engaged. so I came up with a idiot light. I bought 12 volt hi-bright lamps they come in a two pack and 3 amp I am using a soft touch button switch, that way it will not put pressure on the shifter, and pop it out of gear, and 18-22 gage wire, all under $5 . the 4x4 light is going above the fuel shut off switch, and the other light is going above the ignition key, this is so I can tell when I leave the key on, the one in the dash is not bright enough, and you have to be above it to see it on. now I can see the light from across the room. I have a shuttle shift on my 284 Jinma. up front on the left side about 8" from the 4x4 shifter is a access plate. the top two bolts are 2.5" apart, and right in line with the shifter making it just perfect for a bracket. As you can see I made a bracket for the switch , I used a 1"x1/8"x9" flat steel and bent it at 1" from the end, and drilled it for the switch, the other end I drilled two slotted holes for adjustment of the bracket. I used the dash switch that is fused protected for the power to the light and from the light to the 4x4 button to ground.. I am using the switch as a ground brake that way if you damage the button it will only go to ground, and the light will come on, and not blow a fuse.. There is not much to it but it works and that is all that matters hope you like it

Turbo, Nice little mod. That's a nice feature I hadn't thought about. It should definitely help the longevity of the drive train.

Thanks Brad. I used it for a month now and its nice not having to look down to make sure I am in or out of FWD..,and the ignition light is a nice addition as well

Hey Turbo,
Great addition to the electrical system having that 4X4 engagement light. Now all you need to add is a solenoid to the 4WD and some rotational sensors on the front and back wheels to make 4X4 engagement automatic like anti slip control.
A mod I would like to add is an automatic fuel kill when the key is turned off. I wonder if a fuel solenoid wired to the switch would work? If fuel is cut to the injector, how quickly would the engine die?
Hey what's that yellow sticker on your clutch pedal?

The sticker Say's, ( when driving do not put your foot on the clutch) so does that mean I can put my foot on the clutch when I am not driving? I really have a had time shifting gears when I am driving but I getting my timing down. As far as the fuel shut off on the pump, it is spring loaded to the on position with a 2" throw and another 2" to the bracket so there is plenty room for a solenoid, but you need the solenoid with no power to it, to over come the spring in off mode or remove the spring. then when the key is on the solenoid will activate and turn the fuel on. something like a starter solenoid does. I not going to comit on a 4 x 4 automatic ;D I'll let you work on that one...

The sticker Say's, ( when driving do not put your foot on the clutch)Whew, I thought it said "when driving do not drink beer" so does that mean I can put my foot on the clutch when I am not driving?Well I suppose so. Just so I have this straight - to put your foot on the clutch, first you must let go of the steering wheel, that way your not driving (technically), then push in the clutch to shift, right? On the solenoid fuel cut off thing, I was thinking of a fluid solenoid valve connected between the tank and the injector that when de-energized (no power) would cut off fuel supplying the injector. Would that be an instant kill? or would residual fuel be consumed before the engine sputters then dies? The mechanical fuel kill built into the injector must somehow instantly cutoff fuel. I already have automatic 4X4. When I start to slip, I automatically reach down and engage the 4X4 ;D ;D ;D Larry

I really have a had time shifting gears when I am driving but I getting my timing down. 0 ............. I guess they mean don't use the clutch as a foot rest because it's hard on the throwout bearing. (Am I being Mr. Obvious?) Traditional tractor transmissions actually aren't synchronized for speed shifting since road gear is barely as fast as first in a car . That said I have pretty good luck upshifting in the Kama but I quit trying to downshift after the first few GRRRRs. Larry , you could try the shutoff at the tank to get an idea of how long the tractor would run. Ouch - I just had a thought - DONT DO IT! You'll have to reprime the injection pump! Solenoid pump lever flipper is the way to go. The whole thing will have to be enclosed too to provide true ignition key security. If it's just for convenience no problem. Brad
