Got Dirt

A builder friend of mine asked me if I wanted aprox. 40 ten ton loads of clean fill/dirt that he had to remove from a building lot. Of course I said yes, clean fill is like Gold in my neck of the woods.
I will use it to expand garden space for specimen trees and plants, I started to fill a gully/depression with it and as always this 284 amazes me with what it can do.

My friend sent me another 100 tons of clean fill and I`m using it to fill in some low spots.

I`ve been moving fill for a few days now, it`s slow going but it`s going.

Nice score Paul! That "dirt" looks as good as some unscreened "topsoil" the sell in my neck of the woods

True enough Ed, I`ve paid $65 a 10 ton load for unscreened dirt a lot worse than this fill, but that was 7yrs ago, and now with "fuel surcharges" I`m sure it would be more today. My builder friend tells me there might be a few more loads he can send me but he won`t know till his job is further along.
I told him I will take all I can get as I have more than enough places where I could use it to improve the terrain.

I had bent my 3pt backhoe top link early on by driving too quickly into a gully without first raising the backhoe. So now fast forward to when I was digging out a Maple stump and of course that is when the link breaks leaving me stuck mid-dig and appropriately it starts to rain.





I do a hasty and sloppy "Shoe-Maker" type repair and get back to it, I used some re-bar to help reinforce it.
