Just bought a 20 kw Generac Centurion generator with an automatic transfer switch. We get ice storms here at times and a power outage is not uncommon. One year the power was off for almost a week, not a good thing, especially in the winter and had to use a portable to run the frig and freezer, plus the blower on one heater. Gas company has to hook up the propane from the large tank and the electrician will hook up the service. Supposed to power the whole house. Best deal on the generator was from Lowes! Quite a savings! Unit installed! As the transfer switch is between the meter on the pole and the service disconnect, it will not only run the house but the lighting in the barns as well during an outage.

Looks sweet! How many hours will the generator run on the gas tank?
Read that if the grid lost power, that natural gas would follow cause they need power to drive the pumps to pressize the gas for transport. In that case having a tank would be a benefit.

Kinda neat, as it is computer controlled, it starts up once a week at 9AM every Monday, runs for 10 minutes checking it's self and all circuits then shuts down. During this cycle, it isolates it's self from the main utility and runs at lower RPMs. Pretty darn cool. PJ
