What precipitated this breakdown was diesel leaking out of what I now know is the injection pump oil overflow. Obviously diesel was getting past some seal in the injection pump and replacing the injector oil. To lazy to deal with it at the time, I just put a little clear tube on the overflow likely exacerbating the problem as the diesel (which is really just light oil), probably gave it some head pressure and more problems. Anyhow, I happened to have a spare new injection system, 2 really, as I have a complete spare new Y380 also, as well as a pile of other parts for this and the jinma 354. It really only took 3 hours to get it back into fine form. I would say that the main thing to worry about is the timing. There is 2 ways to screw up the timing, 1, don't mark the gear when you pull it out after removing the timing gear cover and the other, note the angle of the fuel injection pump. To adjust the timing (a bit), you can easily adjust it by loosening the 3 bolts which hold the injection pump to the block and twisting one way or the other. As perhaps you can see on my photos, I kinda thought that the 0's that are stamped on both timing gears don't seem to line up. I was wondering if perhaps they were off a tooth from the factory, but it has run well for about 1800 hrs so I doubt it.
