By the time I get to it, all my fabrication projects will have been built outdoors ! At least I'll have a nice dry place to sand off rust and re-paint them ;D Offer accepted your invited! (Might take longer than a weekend though) Well I was a bum most of today, I did a little welding but nothing worth writing about. Had some guests over for a cookout and socializing, it was a nice break from my projects. Larry

I finished it up today, slapped on a coat of flat black, slipped the boom into the receiver, slid in the locking pin and that's that. It won't get that much use but it sure will come in handy when I need it. The out of pocket was just right for this sort of thing, total cost was 4 cans of paint, all the plasma cut steel was in-trade. For heavy lifting a cable is attached to the FEL arms and connected to the clevis at the tip of the pole. Larry

Nice welding. Did you have to weld the back as well? What do you figure the total height is? Reminds me of when I worked with carpet installers they had a forklift with a 5" diameter pole that was a good 12' in length for picking up rolls of carpet. It's nickname was Big Dick. -Ed

I did weld the back tab of the receiver, the weight of the plate is 140# or so? and the pole maybe 60#'s. Larry

Larry missed your question about the MIG. Did a test run with it and it works. Brought one of those Lincoln Electric auto darking helmets and was really impressed on how it worked so much nicer then trying to hold your spot when flipping down the helmet. Have to weld some hooks to the bucket but definitely need to practice some before. Also want to make braces for the loader arms -Ed
